Hi I was wondering if anyone had any experience with syringe tips that you would use with liquid cultures. I've only got the ones from spore websites, but I don't really know which one is best for liquid cultures. I would love to hear from you guys and any related experiences.

A syringe that is long enough to hit the and wide enough to suck up mycelium is really the only necessity. I guess I'm not quite sure what you're asking if it something besides that.

I use the standard spore syringe with my LC's... It is a little hard to get the mycelium blobs into it without some good agitation, but you don't need too much in there.
That's probably my best advice... Agitate the LC as much as possible before filling the syringe. At that point, there is plenty of mycelium suspended in the liquid.

IME the best size is as large a gauge as you can find. I've found an 18G or larger is ideal. Length depends on your technique, jar size, etc. I like the 1 1/2" length.

I have my LC jars designed with only one hole, which is a SHIP.
When the LC sits for a long time the mycelium turns into a big blob, but you need it in small pieces in order to fit most syringes. The advantage to my design is when I need to fill a syringe with LC I can just shake the hell out of my LC jar and it turns into a thousand little shreads of mycelium, which easily fit in my syringe.
My syringes are 16G 1.5" length, and I use them for everything.

Search for 14 gauge blunt tip needles. I got mine from smallparts.com when I bought such stuff. RR

Like RR said the blunt tip ones are good, I've never heard of that particular site but I bought a bunch of stuff from a sponsor including a 3" blunt tip 14g LC Syringe Tip.. it's pretty awesome since that's about double the length of your standard tips it's great for quart LC's or pints, just a whole lot easier in general with that length

I don't do LC's often.. but when I do, I really like these. Also, they're a sponsor and very fast and friendly. Give them a try!

That's the exact sponsor i got mine from and previously recommended!
Idk why it says 4" though it's 3.5... it's awesome though, too bad you gotta self sterilize though that's the ONLY one that doesn't arrive
sterile lol. great product!

18G or larger seem to work well for me. I always put a couple of marbles in my LC jars so I can shake and macerate the myc blobs easily.
The blunt tips are a good bet as well, they seem less prone to clogging up. My friend calls them snorkels for some reason, I use IV drugs fairly often (most weeks) so I have tried pretty much every gauge needle out there for one thing or another.

The magnificent 4" blunt tip needle.
I don't use syringes and needles for my grow tech except on rare occasions but when I do it's always this thing. They can be used to make scrape slurries of mycelium from agar into sterile water for instant sterile "LC", and can inoculate even the tall regular half-pint jars for PFtek very deep down into the cake which cuts colonization time dramatically where the myc would otherwise have to climb down deep into the jar from the top. I love 'em.

I got a glass bit the same size as my vacutainer rubber stoppers and drilled a side hole in a couple wide mouth quart jars.
Now once ready, I just pull from the lower injection port. A longer needle is nice once the LC starts to get low, but you don't need the 4" anymore. Much easier to find lower gauge, sharp 1.5-2.5" needles then the long 3-4"!
Take your time with the glass cutting, and use plenty of water.

It is by no means my original idea. I grabbed it off here from some older posters that where big advocates of LCs. Not a move that pops up very often though, and it is an absolutely fantastic idea. So there it is. Eat it up kids. Nom NOm NOM
