How much more intense is smoked DMT to ayahuasca?

I've done ayahuasca twice, and did fairly moderate doses but I still got pretty intense effects, there was a moment where I thought I was about to die or explode at any moment, because the effects ramped up so rapidly. That was after my 2nd cup during my first ceremony I had. If ayahuasca does this to me, I'm wondering what a DMT blastoff will do. I think what made ayahuasca challenging for me was my instinctive resistance to the experience. Is DMT like salvia in the sense that when you break through, you can no longer comprehend the concept of resistance?

In my experience...Yes.
I've never done ayahuasca, only smoked. With the few "break throughs" that I've had that's pretty much how it was. I mean, in a sense I suppose there could be a comprehension of resisting what's happening to you. But things usually happen so damn quickly after a good rip that there's not really time to, in my experience at least. I've never been one that resists anyways.
With moderate doses I've seen a couple friends kinda panic and appeared to be what I think most would consider "resisting". They were relatively new to psychedelics, but just pointing out that I've seen that happen when one isn't quite fully "gone" .
My most recent experience was around 60mg give or take. I took it off a heated titanium nail, what people use for dabbing oil if you're familiar with that. The nail works very very well for vaping DMT, and that was also up with the largest amounts I've done...Right before I exhaled the hit I was barely starting to feel it, right after I exhaled I was gone that instant. I've never had effects come on that hard and that quick before. The experience was actually very hard to remember because it was such an intense and fast blast up and down, I know that's how DMT is but usually I can remember my experiences relatively well.
If I have an maoi on hand, like syrian rue or caapi, I prefer combining an maoi (maoi smoked, or in a tea) when smoking DMT. For my self and a few others that have tried it...it smooths & slows down the experience, at the same time intensifies and prolongs effects. These sorts of things are so variable, of course, so that's just generally speaking.

Lol not at all ime. Ayahuasca has got to be the most intense drug I have ever ingested and DMT was like child's play to me. I used to be in love with it. Would never have a bad time. Ayahuasca is like... "only if I need it".
But to answer your question, yes. Generally breakthrough doses are easy because you lose concept of yourself. However, I find with experience I lose less and less awareness and so now my high doses can be Roy anxiety provoking sometimes
