should I bother with a tyvek filter on my brf jars, or just leave the holes open with a verm filter?

IMO, there is no need for tyvek on brf cakes. a simple verm layer works wonders. i never tape either and don't get contams. but whatever makes you feel better.

the most important part is being sterile in your injection, if you can get that right you are in good shape.

hope that helps :smirk:

my FOAF has never had contam problems with vermiculite as a barrier, no tyvek...even with his grains, he doesnt use anything, just tape of the innoc hole, and they do wonderfully well.

I have never been able to grow anything without my tyvek filters. It isn't like they are much of a hassle.
