Anyone ever done this with Agar wedge?

I am NOT saying it is the best way to do it... but it has worked really well for me, and I am just wondering if anyone else has even tried it...
I have had really fast colonization times (~5 days to 100% colonization) in 1-quart WBS jars by taking the plunger out of a syringe, shoving a colonized Agar wedge into it, shooting the Agar into the jar (it comes out like silly string), then shaking the jar.
Obviously all of this is done in a clean environment with gloves, etc. etc. My quart jars have silicone-filled injection ports in the lids, and my needles are not small. I flush the syringe out with alcohol between injections.
The only species I have done it with is Panaeolus Cyanescens.

It seems unnecessary and adds contamination vectors in my opinion , but if it works for you, go for it.

Agreed re: contamination - at least it is probably no better than the regular way of doing it, which is why I am not actually recommending it... Just curious if anyone else has ever had the idea.
The whole reason I did it in the first place was because I hate opening jars even for an instant to put the wedge in... I sort of feel like I can control the sterility of the syringe better than I can the open mouth of the jar.

No, it's far worse.

Alcohol does not sterilize, so the potential for cross contamination just skyrocket.
We sterilize our tools with heat between transfers, not sanitize them.
And this all just seems like a big waste of time anyways.
Just cut a wedge and drop it in a jar....it's so rediculously simple that people go out of their way to make it complicated.

OP, you really shouldn't delete your posts. It's good discussion, even if it was a silly thought.

I absolutely hate the thought that some newbie might come in here just skimming through the forums, see this idea and latch onto it without reading the rest of the discussion. There are too many bad ideas floating around here already. I don't intend to add to their number.

Ok fine. I UN-deleted it. If you want to take the chance of someone grabbing onto a bad idea and screwing up a grow, that's on you.

If somebody uses an untested, unproven idea that was said to be unnecessary and open to contamination issues in the first reply, that's on them .

I'm sure it happens all the time. There are a thousand 'teks' out there, and 992 of them are ill conceived. It takes some serious reading to even start to sort the nonsense from the proven methods. Why should I add more nonsense to the pot?

This is hardly a tek.
ANd it has been shot down, for good reason.

I know, I have the same problem when people come to me with what I consider to be stupid questions and ideas regarding MY area of expertise (IT). This whole mushroom thing is obviously NOT my area of expertise at the moment, and I understand that it's tough to answer the same stupid questions over and over again, and to listen to asinine ideas day in and day out from newbie know-it-alls... but if you can't do it with at least a little tact, then maybe you shouldn't be doing it at all.

being short and concise is good and apropriate, why share unneeded informations? I actually like Notahackers aproach when helping others. Mind that he said nothing offensive and if you feel offended its due to your misinterpretation.
and by the way he actually took his time to answer your question and you are angry because he didnt go flattering you while correcting your mistakes.

Better get a thick skin if yer gonna hang out in cultivation Hacker may teach with a hammer but he isn't the only one that does. Pretty much the one rule of thumb here is that you better be able to back up anything you say with pics, science, links, and logic or you gonna be butthurt all day. Even a friendly disagreement here can look like a war sometimes. But if ya can man up a little bit, you can learn a lot
In regard to your OP and your fear of contams from opening the lid to drop in a wedge, understand that most contams travel on air currents. In a properly constructed and prepared SAB this risk is quite minimal. Under these conditions the next most likely vector for contams IMO is contact. In this case even the contact of the needle to SHIP has a greater risk of carrying a contam into your jar than dropping in a wedge. I find that inoculation with a wedge is one of the most clean and reliable methods there is. Personally I dislike anything in a syringe myself, and the few times that I feel the need to use one to inoculate, I don't even use a SHIP, I just crack the lid and squirt the solution through that, same as if I were inoculating with a wedge.

^^ That's a good response. It explains why it's a bad idea all around without being rude. Shooting people down, concisely or not, just makes it less likely that person will post in the future.
Thank you for your response, Pastywhyte.

I would pressure cook the syringe before I tried it (assuming it wouldn't melt, no idea if syringes could withstand 15 psi) and apply the wedge to the plunger in a SAB.
This could actually help me, Ive been having a weird problem - when I add an agar wedge to a grain jar then shake it up, half of the agar wedge gets stuck to the lid of the jar and no matter how hard I shake it just stays there with WBS stuck to it. I then have to let the jar colonize upside down. Its happened to me 4 of my last 10 tries. This method would certainly eliminate that problem.
