Quick mono question

I fruited my second monotub a few days ago . My first ones starting its second flush. My first tub is a 4 Inch sub with 1 1/2 inch holes. My new on is a 3 inch sub with bigger 2 inch holes. My first one did very well and this new one the top of the substrate looks dry where as the first one was always glistining on top. Does this mean its to dry and should I be misting. I had the poly pulled on one hole up top and I replaced it stil dryer then my first tub

You should LOOSELY stuff with polyfil on the top holes. If the top of the substrate is dry then mist, but not heavily. It's better/easier to have more air exchange & compensate the humidity with misting.

Wouldn't less air exchange compensate for low humidity

You cannot have good humidity without adequate FAE.
Evaporation off the substrate is what humidifies a monotub.

Exactly this. You should never lower your FAE in an attempt to keep humidity up.

Sounds like you understand the problem, now you have to compensate for it.
1st time: 4in sub, 1.5 in hole- more water and less FEA 2nd time: 3in sub, 2in holes- less water, more FEA
Given this I would start misting a few sprays once or twice a day, just look for the glistening.
The top holes should be lightly polyfilled for first flush. Then at harvest pull one or both and mist moderately. I believe the reason for pulling polyfill after harvest is to help pinning from evaporating water you spray on and FEA.
I don't like to think "stuff" the top holes because really you just want a piece to barely hang there, not reducing flow too much.

Yea I follow all that frank Horgan stuff that how I do everything my second tub hasn't flushed yet I took the polyfill back out of one hole and I spray once a day any new tubs I bud will be like the first one because it required no maintenance. Thx for the info
