Hey everyone, long time study..er? first time searching and posting. I want to apologize in advance for having the following pictures taken at night, but it is the only time i could go out. If theres anything else you guys need, ill be back in the morning adding the pictures of the spore prints and brusing. thanks in advance!

Habitat:
I am from the north east of America, and i found these out in the woods, 1. was growing on the tree, and 2. were found in the ground near lots of dead and rotting trees.

1.

2.

I think I have narrowed 1. down to gymnopilus junonius and 2. down to either panaeolus cinctulus or pluteus salicinus.

post picking

1.

2.

Gills:
1. dark orange/brown, not too compact, fraying out below cap.
2. creamish coloring, quite compact, frays slightly out from under cap

Stem:
1. rough and hard, cracked moderately easily
2. more tender and soft, very fiborous

Cap:
will add length and width when i find a ruler

Spore print color:
will post in the morning

Bruising:
will post in the morning

These were found between a farm, and a small crick around dead decaying trees. probably 50 feet either way from the farm or crick. Also I did not see any growing in groups. The pictures are the only ones I saw

Your first ID is correct but I think the second is perhaps Pluteus plautus for the stature, stipe and cap coloration. P. salicinus tends to be grey-silver with a bright white stipe.

Thanks for the quick reply! As for the first, what should i expect from the coloration of the spores?

As for the second, are they edible/active? i did not see much on google.

Ah. I was trusting you somewhat to have established Pluteus. You would expect pink spores but on the basis of those pics alone that doesn't rule out other mushrooms. Were the gills attached to the stipe?

just made the spore prints, further confirming what i had thought originally, just want a second person to comfirm/deny

1.

2.

I think the first is gymnopilus junonius and the second is pluteus salicinus. The habitat is right, they grow in my area, and the spore prints seem to be accurate.

1 may or may not be active, but it is Gymnopilus, check for green bruising, as I understand even if there is no green bruising present it still may be active... Does anyone have any information on this?

2 definetly looks like Pluteus and definetly not active... You would see blue bruising on the lower portion of the stem.... Hence not Pluteus salicinus.
