fruiting chamber in garage
    #18992311 - 10/17/13 06:45 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

A garage has these built in storage cabinets along one wall. All wood, well, that pressed wood stuff.

Anyway, can the insides be lined with black garbage bags/plastic sheeting, the shelving replaced with wire shelves, a plastic sheet dropped down in front (so you would have to roll it up when you open the doors), and maybe some weather sealing along the doors. Then inside a cool mist humidifier (or on the outside, pumping mist in) and some lights on timers. Estimate being able to store 9 66 qt tubs inside (3 on each wire shelf).

The garage just stores one car, no woodworking or other activities going on.

My questions are:
1. can this work / should it be pursued ?
2. should I occasionally pump in filtered air, or just open the cabinet doors once in awhile, or neither - it will get air just fine because it's not that airtight anyway.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Research greenhouses and marthas.

Yes it is possible, depending on your climate.

look up green houses and marthas with the advance search and click trusted cultivators. And look up cabinets too. Even with a ultrasonic and fan driven cool mist I would think you would still need holes in your cabinets or the ability to open and close them a couple times an hour I think FAE should be about 2-3 exchanges an hour but don't quote me on that.

Damn NAH and your quick fingers.

If they're big enough you could put monotubs and a cleverly placed fan in them which is probably easier.

I did look into the GH and marthas, which kind of led me to looking at those cabinets in a new way.

So, there doesn't seem to be any issue with it being a garage, which is great news.

If the coolmist is placed outside and piped in it handles a good deal of fae depending on size of the FC.

Once a substrate is fully colonized, it's virtually impeccable to contacts until the mycelium is weakened. Usually this occurs after the second flush or later. I've fruited monotubs successfully in a barn until the end of October (like 40 degrees). Although growth is slower, the fruits have been found to be more potent IMO. Cubes aren't as fragile as one would think.
