Death of the Acid Culture

Thought this deserved a new thread because it goes way off topic and merits further discussion. I think that North America particularly is in a huge psychedelic drought right now, especially when it comes to acid.

xfluffybunnyx said: more importantly :P i have not seen or heard anything from my friend lsd in almost 4 years now... no one can find it, no one has it, everyone hears a rumor of a friend of a friend who will get it but it never comes through... i heard that the two major producers got taken down around the time i stopped seeing it... but other than that, is there a reason? anyone else suffer from this problem? i seriously would pay $20 for a hit right now... i'm not asking for it from someone on the board just wondering if it exsists i see from time to time on this board someone mention it but never in RL i live in a major city, "the" major city of the midwest so i would think if its out there it would be here any dose sitings out there? i took a road trip all the way down to phoenix last year... and not a single city i stoped in had even heard any news just wondering
I know a -former- huge acid dealer on the northeast coast that has a pretty in depth explanation...Since Jerry Garcia died in 95, the demand went down a ton, and as if that wasn't enough, Tim Leary died in 96, so the 95-96 effectively dealed the death blow to acid's popularity. All of the major operations and factories that made acid in the first place make ecstasy now, because it's so much more profitable. Any acid you find will end up being 10 years old, or from Europe, or from some extremely obscure lab in god-knows-where. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty certain that we're not going to be seeing a decent amount of LSD in the US for a very, very long time.
Does anyone have any ideas on why mind expansion is dying, even though the world is more open and free and full of enlightenment than it ever was before? Why is LSD so unpopular now when compared to 'jock drugs' like weed? Do people really need some pinchy ostentatious band to guide them around to which drugs they should do en masse?

weed is a jock drug huh?
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

The culture is alive and well and thriving. I think places like the Shroomery prove that.

We must remember that it is not the messenger, but the message. Acid is the messenger... Mushrooms, DXM, MDMA.... All messengers... You can find it in anything, because it is within you... Look deeper....

Its E.
All the euphoria without the hallucintaion.
Most people, now, are using drugs to make themselves feel good and E does this without risk of scitzophrenia/paranoia (or at least appears to) therefore making it much more appealing than cid.

It is a shame lsd isn't very popular. I hope mushrooms becomes as popular as lsd was back in the day. I think its a cycle thow.

You should of had many oppurtunities to aquire lsd this summer if you visited the right shows. I live in a major city in the midwest and lsd came up more then a few times this summer in the form of fractals and buddahs .
Sadly it is not nearly as available as it was just 2-3 years ago . Im not sure how the tours look next year yet, but hopfully it will be better then this year. I know im going to bonnaroo for sure . After bonnaroo i thought this was gonna be the silver summer for sure, but it turned out there was much more demand as lsd.

As for the two "major producers" being taken down, I seriously doubt that. This is not authoritative, but I'm not aware of any LSD labs being busted in the last 25 years save one. Rolling Stone did a piece on it not too long ago. Due to the fact that tiny amounts can dose thousands of people, plus the complexity involved in producing it, only a few labs supply the entire country with LSD. You really need to talk to ChinaCat in Other Drugs forum if you want to know anything further about this.
From what I gather, the supply is still there, it's the distribution network that's shrunk. And yes, Jerry Garcia dying had a lot to do with that.

man for the most part the ever mysterious lsd eluded me this summer figured there would be some at the joliet dead show but it was dryyyy. Oh well. I gave up looking after too many dissappointments. I'm sure it'll come back around eventually The drought can't permanent...neither could the flooding...nothing is permanent...

You've just hit the nail on the head. Garcia's death had little to do with it... I was well-supplied from 97-00. I think it has everything to do with rave culture and the general apathy of today's hedonistic youth (my peer group ).

he wasnt spewing rhetoric at all, its the truth. Today's youth/young adults....coincidently the largest demographic of drug user's dont want to see the emptiness in their live's or be forced through psychological barriers which they do not want to confront. The focus is on a goodtime and feeling good, that is E.

mdma is only a phase. It will pass, hell its almost already passed. The whole rave/mdma scene is dying, and I see alot more psychedelic people being born. Hopefully it will come back.
And on a side note, mdma does make you quite crazy up in the brain. I dunno whos all taken heafty doses frequently, but i know alot of people who take these synthetic party drugs and are completely mentally gone. I know ive hit pretty large doses of mdma, and not just started spitting out random words that made no sense whatsoever.
It was real weird, my thinking capabilities were gone, and my brain was just throwing fragments of distorted thoughts out there....And i see alot of pill heads from back in the day like this even when sober, its hard to talk to them because they will randomly start talking about some shit not even they know what about. Then you ask them what, and they seem a little confused, or sometimes go a little deeper on the subject wich does not exist. Replacing names, makiong up incedents, etc.
I know of 4 people who are like that from use of lots of mdma + whatever else is put in pills.
I dont think they are necesarily bad but people who take it that far are become more schitzo on mdma than ive ever seen off acid
