I dont know why they couldnt do it for console. Gta5 does it well.
Dont need a whole world of people as long as I could build a character and do 16 people deathmatches with it that would be epic. They are definitely missing out on a whole lot more money thats for sure.

The single player in GTA is good but there aren't enough people online and the assisted aiming is just extremely dumb for a shooting game, plus you don't even get money for going on missions really the whole experience just feels wrong.
Skyrim isn't that large of a world honestly you just walk everywhere so it seems huges it's probably less then half the size that GTA is

It pretty much already has. The entire story is one giant plot hole. They even changed who Molag Bal is as a Deadric Prince and the look of Coldharbor is wayyyy off to the lore's description.

All lore is written and approved buy Bethesda. I watched an hour long interview with some of the heads of both Zenimax and Bethesda with them talking about the processes and how they built the world, etc. This is not Zenimax just running off with the game title all helter skelter however they want.

Bethesda are the ones who came up with the concept of "dragon breaks", basically an excuse to have plotholes and varying canon depending on your choices as a player. "Oh, it's ok, every possibility happened at once."
Still, I worry for the bits of lore that are still intact up until now.

I felt the same way when I first heard about it but I'm going to give it a shot regardless. Who knows? I might enjoy the game play. No other high fantasy MMO has really kept my attention since I begged off WoW pre-Kung Fu Panda so *shrug* What's the worst that can happen?

So far I'm loving what I see in the beta. It really does feel like an elder scrolls game. Nothing like how some games seem to be just models and names plopped down into the land of some generic mmo or clone of another.
Only just got to make it out of the starting little story area and into the big wide world when I had to get ready for work, but its pretty, and impressive so far.

I'm slightly enjoying it so far..... I too just got out the starting noob zone.
Melee characters seem kinda weak to start.. I rolled a "dragonbane" or whatever the fuck the warrior is called.. not very impressed with the combat.
I rolled a sorcerer and that fucker just melts faces.
That's the one thing about elder scrolls games that has always let me down... the combat is so linear and weak.. especially melee.. it's just.. right hand left hand... no special moves really. I was kind of hoping for TESO to be different... but no.. it's more of the same boring combat. I mean they added the "special counterattack" thing which is a slight improvement.. but still falls short IMO.
Graphics are good at ultra high and I haven't really gotten deep enough into the storyline to really form a solid opinion yet. But so far my overall impression is "meh".
I sincerely doubt Bethesda's decision to make this is a paid subscription based game.. I know I probably will definitely not be paying $15/month for it. I mean at least WoW could keep people hooked, but that also had a very in-depth combat system, and end game PVE. So far TESO doesn't look like they have any end game.. and I know it's just a BETA.. but it's just a sign of things to come. I feel they are just going to fall into the same trap of most MMOs with the endless grindfest and go here do that repeat.

Just finished playing the beta. It's fucking sweet I think. I normally hate MMO's because of the way the combat system is. In this game it's just like Skyrim. Left click attacks, right click blocks. You can dodge attacks and it pretty much controls like skyrim.
Personally I think WoW is shit, but that's mainly because it's got boring combat. The combat in ESO is alot more engaging and fun, it's a great mesh of Elder Scrolls and MMORPG. First person works great. Still needs some work though, but even for a beta its the funnest MMO i've played.

I really enjoyed my entire beta weekend. Obviously it has a lot of glaring issues, being that this is still closed beta week 14, but I really found it different and refreshing. At first I hated the lickpicking, but I picked it up after only a few broken lockpicks and the mechanic is fun. In Skyrim I could pick a damn lockpick with no skill level in it at all, manually, that was a master lock. THATS not fun, thats cheap/cheating feeling. In this even with the most basic locks I would still break one now and then, and being on a timer makes it a better challenge as well.
There needs to be more 'feedback' when attacking for sure. I.e. it feels when im swinging my sword or dagger at a mob that it goes right through them, not like it connects with anytihing but this is a well known issue and will end up fixed before release.
I think that at the very least there lacks an mmo LIKE this out there and as long as they dont go trying to cater to every little whiner out there and nerf the hell out of it should be fun.
I didn't however make it to the level requirement to get into the pvp arena which was the point of this beta. Hopefully that doesn't cause me to not get invited to the next.

I read some articles with discussions with head devs that talked about how they are going to be implementing some sort of crime/punishment system in game AFTER the main game system is working and balanced. Where you actually can be evil/do bad things like murder eople or pick ocket and steal I guess. They want to implement the system way later however because it will heavily involve one player reporting or hunting other players, so if there is imbalance or glaring holes it could be easily abused to harrass people and other such things that would cause it to be uber no fun.
Also, people seem to be confused on the whole zenimax thing. Zenimax online is owned by Zenimax group, Zenimax group also owns Bethesda and all of the other IP's from id software, etc.

I was talking more about PKs, murdering people and taking ALL their items out in the wilderness. That was half the fun of the game for a lot of people.

All the shit I said came right from the lead dev's discussion about it, in response to PC gamers question on why isn't there any of those neat things we all love about skyrim/oblivion/etc.
It was about how they are going to implement a crime and punishment system, nothing about locking a player up in a cell where you can't do anything but sit there or log out. Obviously they are going to find a way to balance it out and put it in a multiplayer online context.

I got me some email giblets from ESO and the wording makes it sound like for the most part if you were part of an earlier beta you're shit will still be active for future runs. Hopefully we will have another beta run here in a few weeks.
The survey I took in response to this last beta weekend was pretty damn long and all over the place. Did the rest of you betawhores fill it out? From others I talked to it seems reporting at least one bug and filling out the survey are what most people guess is the base requirement to make sure you keep getting to come back for more betas.

Not a day goes by when I don't rue my inability to 'morph' my skills into more powerful or useful ones. I'd evolve my Lv.1 Writing talent into the far handier Lv.1 Plumbing skill, for example, while on second thoughts I regret maxing out my Hypochondria stat. The Elder Scrolls Online will let you do much the same thing but with magic and powerful special moves, as revealed in Zenimax's latest trailer for their upcoming MMO. We already know what sort of characters we'll be able to make; now we know how we can turn them from weak little adventurers into fiery apocalyptic deathmages (or whatever other builds you had in mind). Video after the break.
Nothing too dramatically different from the MMO norm then, with "ability morphing" being another way of saying "skill evolution", although I like that we'll be given a bit of choice in the matter. Choices are always good. As this is Elder Scrolls we're talking about, you can of course improve your skills through normal use, but this time you'll also accrue XP for killing folks and doing quests and whatnot, with attribute and skill points being doled out at level-ups.
Ultimate abilities are also a thing now, and they seem to function a little like limit breaks in a Final Fantasy game, with you having to build up a gauge before you're allowed to deploy the explosive attacks in the wild. All in all this seems like a fine, if conservative, way to handle character progression - the proof will be in the pudding though, of course.
