I just acquired a large amount San pedro cacti (legitimately) My only experience with cactus has so far only been some weak Americanized san pedro that took 4' worth of salts extracted through an a/b extraction to feel anything.
I have read some people say you can almost taste the mescaline, my experience is limited.
the current one definitely tastes more bitter were as the first kind tasted like a soapy cucumber. is this in my head or is there any truth to it?

Oh yea you can.
Beware the mescaline tea that tastes like pure salt.
(BTW, you can still get strong cactus that tastes bland, so it isn't a gaurantee, but it is anecdotally been the case. This did seem to be two SP's with a common mother cutting, but they where grown in vastly different conditions.

The bitterness of the cactus isn't an indicator to its potency ime. Kind of an urban myth.

thank you!
the real test will come eventually, but consumption isn't the goal here anyway.

In my humble experience with raw cactus, the more bitter ones make me trip harder
