B+ blue stems, Please help!! [beginner+grow log]
    #18992182 - 10/17/13 06:13 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Well, hello everyone! I need help quick please!

I hope this is right place now for my question!

I have mycobox B+ and shrooms are growing a few days now. Everything went good since now. within 2 days the stems began to turn a blueish.
Is there too much wet or dry in box? Is this contamination? Too hot air too low humidity? Should i spray with water a bit on shrooms? Will they grow? Or is this contamination? (probably not). I am growing them in my room with help of blue christmass lights in closet.. thanks any advice would be helpfull!!

I won't open off site images, but blue stems are normal.  You may have bumped them, or your mister may be shooting out large drops rather than a mist.  Large water drops hitting the stems can cause bruising.

Its safe page for saving/uploading pictures. I probably wont bump them. Yes! I just fixed the bag and make it more "straight". The large water drops may be causing that! I will also put out the water i have in the bag in which is mycobox. That may be causing big humidity and large water drops. You just helped me a bit! Thanks really really appreciate it!

I will be posting new updates of this B+ grow here if successful.

Peace  :mushroom2:

I believe that is a sign of a lack of FAE (fresh air exchange). Also, it's a little hard to tell, but it looks like they might be a bit waterlogged as well. That could be what's causing the blue bruising around the bases. Make sure they get enough fresh air by fanning it out a few times a day, and hold back on the misting for now. Better to err on the side of too dry than too wet, or so I've heard.

Look out for those mushrooms whose caps turn black - they are called aborts and have stopped growing. They'll eventually begin to rot so you may want to pick them early. Still you should save them though because they are still active, they have just stopped growing, or "aborted".

PS if you look up at the top of the forum where it says "Welcome (your name)" click on "pics". You can upload pictures and post them here without redirecting people to outside websites.

Btw.. Does this mushrooms still look good to eat? I think they are. Just making sure.

Feel free to comment and give me any advice! Thanks a lot!

Good to eat, blue bruising is normal. Harvest when veils break.

Looks good.
Wait a little longer to harvest next flush.
Those shrooms could get bigger!

I know. I wanted them to grow bigger. But they stoped growing for some reason.. (lack of FAE). I picked them almost all except few bigger ones on the side of cake. Im just afraid to dont get them contaminated like happened with previous grow (also b+).

Im trying my best.

Cheers! :stoned:

don't abuse your babies like that they need FAE hence the fuzzy feet strange though the areas where it's fuzzy I believe due to drowning them in water and probably not waiting for evaporation also the caps look pretty small to me which is usually a sign for lack of light. Look at them as your children and fulfill all their needs and someday they might grow up and become successful and take care of your every need. :baby:

@ISuckAtHalo: I will keep this grow updated with pictures and also dry weight of mushrooms and other informations. Hope next flush grows bigger.

@spaceman101: Im trying to take care of them like babies

Curently i have them in my room at 25°C. I also smoke 2-3 times a day in my room, is this bad for shrooms? (They dont get a lot of smoke, but they probably get some).

Thanks :mushroom2:

Yo night, did you just layer the bottom with straight substrate cake? Cause that looks like a much better yield then if they were growing on actual cakes. There are so many more little pins waiting to form!

Chin up and stay away from kits they have horrible instructions/set ups. Cubes love fresh air so fanning those kits is key to keeping them clean

no prob we all run into at some point. i have seen the exact kit a shitload of times on hete telling people to jist set n forget but thats far from right, cubes love fresh air and molds thrive in stale air, for moisture you wanna keep an eye on the surface of your substrate for visible moisture, if you can see beads of moisture on the surface that gives you the99-100% rh on the surface of your sub which is exactly wjat you want, where it matters most and also whete no hygrometer can measure(technichly)
so wait for this moisture to evaporate(or at least most of it) begore misting again fanning inbetween this time . fan as much as possible as long as that moistures visible as the small enclosed space in those kits goes stale fairly quick. if you stary seeing fuzzyness at the base of yout fruits thats an indicator that you need to fan more and mold usually follows if it isnt addressed. gl on your next run and dont be scared to ask dumb q's and catch shit for it
