i will be using 1/4 pint size Mason Jars i have 18, Which means ill be
Using a No-Pour Agar tek

my Agar will consist of
Agar Agar powder acquired from the Asian Market
All Natural Local Honey
Ida-Hoan Orignal Instant potatoes No Butter or anything else.
Tap water
Pressure cooked at 15 mins for 25-35 mins

IMHO I hate doing agar in jars, it is a royal pain. But I think you have to make an injection port if you are using MS. PM if you want a link to cheap plastic sterile petri dishes with free delivery.

I've been wondering the same thing.

I just bought a bunch of 2.5 oz baby food jars, and I'm wondering if I'll need to modify the lid to eliminate the possibility of pressure build up while in the PC. I bought these jars with the intention that I would use them in the same way you'll use your 1/4 pints, with a no-pour agar tek. BTW, where do you get those 1/4 pints? I looked around for the longest but wasn't gonna pay more in shipping than I did for the actual product. :wowz:

Although, my agar formula is different and seemingly much more simple:

Malt Extract Agar (MEA)
10 grams light malt extract
9 grams agar agar
500 ml potable or distilled water

Check here for some other agar recipes in case you have any questions.

Good luck on your endeavors! I'll be sure to check back here for the answer to my our question.

Honey is not needed for agar.

Agar agar from the store will work but is not the optimal agar as it's "food grade" therefore containing preservatives. Mycelium is not a fan of preservatives.
