Varieties, not strains.

i bought 9 different strains. i really just wanted to get a whole array of them so i could see which ones grew best and which ones felt bet. i just figured that if i was going to jump into this then i might as well go in the deep end instead of dipping a toe in the baby pool. looks like i just picked the wrong vendor and that was my down fall. i dont mind the $100. i just wish i had the prep time and past three nonproductive weeks back. i just want results.

Well, for next time, I suggest just buying one syringe, if used right it will be the only syringe you need.

Spores are really freaking potent, and cubes are cubes.

Pick one that sounds good and go with it, then isolate some good genetics.

If they were all cubes, and you grew them all next to each other unlabeled, I would bet a million dollars you could not tell them apart.

Cubes are cubes.

Agreed. When I started growing I bought a 4 pack of 4 different "strains" and I could tell no difference. Hell I doubt the vendors really keep track of "strains" anyway. They probably just stick a label on there of whatever you ordered

well, it seems as though every person says they wish they would have started out with agar so thats what i am going to do. after a lackluster performance of my first grain batches im just gonna say screw it and start this new hobby with what seems to be the basics.

i have decided to not yet ask for a refund from the company that i bought the spores from. i am a reasonable person and i know that it could be my fault, no matter how much research i have done, and not the company i bought from. i also realize that if i do agar and nothing happens i reserve the right to complain to the company about not seeing anything under the microscope or multiple organisms seen under the microscope.

i used fastfreds FDA recipe of MEA. i cut the recipe in half because i have nowhere to store around 50 dishes. i made my own individual bags so i would know how much water to add each time i needed to make agar. the nerd store opens on monday so i can get my sterile 2 compartment petri dishes and get the new hobby rolling, hopefully, in the right direction. i have the RR video and have watched the lets learn agar video a few times and am still confused on where to source from. hopefully it will be more apparent when i see some growth on the agar dish.

this forum is a hard place to make comments because of so many condescending and assholish ways people try and "help" others. not necessarily towards from this thread, the only thread i have posted, just from the 1000s of other posts i am gathering information and techniques from. it makes it a very intimidating place to try and become involved.

peace.
