Looks like White Chanterelle, but...
    #18991226 - 10/17/13 02:32 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat:
Tons growing in lawn

Gills:
White, same as cap, decurrent

Stem:
about 4 inches tall, 1/2 wide. Solid, does not break cleanly. Fiberous

Cap:
Cupped, wavy margin, white to buff yellow

Spore print color:
Unknown as of yet

Bruising:
No noticeable color changes

Other information:
Gills seem to deep and thin to be a Chanterelle. They also show no sign  of cross veining.

Should also mention I'm on the east coast of the US. Ohio to be exact. MD suggests that White Chanterelle's are only on the west coast.

Hygrophorus species. Possibly one of the related genera, it's been a while since I studied this family.

Possibly because habitat is so different.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of trees are these growing near?

OK, I've looked at that family and the Ivory Wax Cap seems very close. Unfortunately, there isn't any indication of slime. It has been raining all day and they are most definitely not slimy.

They are growing truly in grass. Closest tree would be Bradford Pear trees.

It doesn't look like this identification was resolved completely. I believe that I have found the same mushroom growing in the front yard in the open but near where a tree used to stand and was taken down 2 years ago. You seem to know something about its classification that I can't find in the books that I have on hand. Can you be more specific in the classification? Edible? Toxic?

@JoeC I believe those are Pleurotus ostreatus, @glennwelker I found the same today. I'm working on an ID.
