You know how I'm always bitching about not finding any A. muscaria?
BOOYAH!! Behold:

Ok, so it was in 3 pieces when I found it, probably knocked over/partially eaten by a deer that's tripping balls right now. Which is too bad, because it would've been gorgeous if it were whole. But it's the biggest goddamn mushroom I've ever seen, an Amanita muscaria, no less.

The cap, which is huge--about the size of a frisbee. This is a pretty accurate representation of the color, var. guessowii maybe?

This is the way I found it, under a huge pine.

This is just the stem. It's way easier to ID when the damn thing is huge. Note the slightly yellowish annulus is practically glued to the stipe.

This is going to take forever to dry. That's ok, winter is coming...

What a beast. Stuff always looks smaller in pics than it actually is and that still looks massive.

Gee, Buff, you have such little hands.

You should dehydrate it, cobble it back together and display it in a large jar!
Seriously though, I grabbed a couple rulers to measure out those dimensions and visualize it. Pretty mindblowing!
Might I ask, do you do a lot of tailoring and alterations?

I'm sure you were joking about the deer tripping balls, but it actually may have been gnawed on by a deer. That is a likely possibility.

On a side note is there any links to proof whether or not deer actually do get high eating magic mushrooms? I often wonder this, someone here told me YES. I want proof lmao!
