The most important thing I can tell you is this; it's practically impossible to gain a flat stomach through diet alone, unless you starve yourself unseemingly skinny. You need to exercise in order to get the look you want.

Eat breakfast. I can't stress that enough. The word basically says it, you're breaking the fast you had when you slept. A lot of people do the opposite, thinking it will help them lose weight, when in fact, all you're doing is sending your body into starvation mode. You'll store more fat and lose muscle. I usually don't have much time after waking up to eat anything, so I opt for a protein drink instead and enjoy it as I'm heading to work. They work pretty well, I have loads of energy and they help me focus.

I've noticed people always mention eating less, or eating certain things, but in my personal experience, it's much more than that. It's when you eat it, and how you eat it. Eating a good meal, for me, usually takes at least a half hour. I am not kidding. I know that's probably unheard of for most people, but I've been eating this way for many years now and I've lost weight every single year that I've done it. Dinner is always when I eat the least amount of food. Sometimes I skip it altogether. I'll usually go for something small, a snack or a serving of fruit. As your day dies down, try to eat less. But also, very important, eat throughout the day, try to keep your blood sugar levels steady.

There isn't an exercise routine that I follow, as it's not really necessary. Both my jobs are pretty physical, I'm constantly moving and stretching, so they keep me in shape. The muscle mass in my arms has increased so much these past few years, it's quite amazing. I wouldn't say I'm skinny, or even healthy (I eat tons of crap I know I shouldn't), but I am happy with my weight. I was thrilled when I saw the number on the scale the last time I weighed myself. I haven't weighed that little since I was in middle school!

Bottom line, diets don't work, OP. To really lose weight and keep it off, you need to make a lifestyle change. It's the only way. Don't let it stress you out too much though, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of fat. I still have lots of fat that I wouldn't mind getting rid of, but then I really think about it, and I come to the conclusion that I really don't mind it. I needn't compare myself to other women who are much thinner than me to feel good about myself. They're not me, they have their own path, just as I have mine.

Anyway, best of luck to you.

This will only happen if you change your mind.

I never understand where people grt the idea that vegan makes you ill. Im 6ft 4. In good shape, climb a lot, motocross, run, weights. I build muscle fast and all on a vegan diet. I just assume most people are nutritional retards and think protein=meat

What?

Are you confused about "cardio kills gains" or "brah"?

Intense cardio workouts are counterproductive to building muscle mass.

I don't feel like doing the research but I've never seen intense football cardio stop muscle gains.

How about just a balanced workout regimen? Cardio some days, muscle gain on others.

I like the feeling of endurance....I surprise myself how long I can go running sometimes. And i get intense satisfaction after eating a good meal afterward :awehigh: not very strong though. I only lift 25lb curls.

Weight loss is all mental! Get in a good mind set and start to eat healthy. Once you get in the groove, nothing can stop you.

Always exercise. Get in a weight lifting routine. Muscle-growth pumps up your metabolism and makes you feel better via endorphin release.

Good vibes your way!

I didn't say it stops muscle gains.

I said it's counter-productive.

Losing weight is simple.

Calories in vs calories burned.

If your burn more calories than you take in you will lose weight.

Replace all the food that is processed with any fruits or vegetables. You want to make your calorie intake less than your calories used, 3500 calories = 1 pound

Losing weight IS that simple. Now, actually gaining a nice physique on the other hand, that takes some exercise too.

You obviously have never tried losing weight. For a lot of people, food isnt just something they like. It's hard to control urges and hormones. Sure, the math says that you need to burn more calories than consumed, but a lot goes into that. You just dont get it if you haven't been in the situation;

Uhhhhhh this is exactly how I went from 225 lbs to 190 lbs in 12 weeks.  And, trust me, I am a HUGE eater with a horrible sweet tooth.  So I think I know what I am talking about.

Damn I'll take some of your extra weight.
I'm trying to go from 165 to 180.
Gaining weight is harder than I imagined plus it's expensive.
