Re hydrating spores?

I have some old prints I really want to give a go at growing. I am pretty sure the prints will need to be re hydrated. After doing a little bit of research I found this post:

-Take your inoculation loop and heat until red hot. -Place onto agar in the middle of the plate, liquefying a spot in the center of the plate. -Take your swipe of spores and inoculate the dimple you have now made as well as swipe in an S pattern around the rest of the plate.
Other options include creating a spore syringe to rehydrate the spores, as RR and others have suggested making your agar on the soupy side, or placing a few drops of sterile water on the plate after inoculation if your agar is on the dry side.
I use half pint mason jars for my agar cultures. The lids have have a silicone injection port built into them. After reading that post I thought that I might be able to inoculate an agar dish with one of my old prints and wait to see if the spores germinate or not. Then if after sometime they do not germinate on their own I could inject a few drops of sterile water into the mason jar/agar dish to help aid the germination. Does this sound like a viable approach to working with old dehydrated spores? The reason I ask is because I only have on print for some of the more exotic species of mushrooms. I really want to try my hands at something like Panaeolus (Copelandia) bisporus but if I ruin the one print I have

i believe i remember a post here once about rehydrating spores by making a spore syringe, plugging the ''needle-attatchement part'', and putting an elastic band around it, bringing continuous pressure to the plunger. thus hydrating the spores by pressuring the water inside. (if that make sense)

I remember seeing that post at some point too. Would would I was thinking of trying work? I don't want to make a syringe I want to start the culture on agar so I have the opportunity to get a clean culture. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Yes, you can place a drop of sterile water over the spores on agar if they're dry. RR
