Are these safe to eat?
    #18988420 - 10/16/13 09:34 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Just bought my first batch of shrooms ever from an old friend. I trust him but not so sure I trust whoever he got these from.

I got them wet (bad sign already I know)

trying to dry them now but they just look weird and very wimpy to me. The stems were pretty thick but I split them in halves to make them dry faster.

My friend said that they are real just dry them first. He had them in a bag and obviously sat on them at some point or at multiple points because they were all pretty much flat when I got them, it's kind of hard to tell where the cap is. I can make it out though.

Not sure if I should try them or not.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is really no telling what those are, or more properly; what those used to be.

I'm curious just to see if they'll do anything, but I just don't want to risk getting sick.

You do realize that "getting sick" isn't your worst-case scenario here?

You most assuredly do not. Depending on what these are, 'getting sick' means dying a very unpleasant death. Do not eat those, and ask your old friend to tell you exactly what he thinks those were.

I do, I'm honestly just not sure what to do, it would seem like such a waste of time and energy to just dump them since I went through hell trying to get them.

Let me tell you for sure what to do then:

Throw those out, or in whatever way do not eat them not allow anybody else to eat them. Ask your old friend to tell you exactly what he thinks they were. Pay close attention to the answer.

Consider your money gone. It is not unlikely a small cost to get rid of somebody you do not want to be associated with.

Then on friday, ask him what I suggested you ask him, and give him his mushrooms back.

If he charged you thirty dollars for what is in that picture, he is already no friend. If even he can not very speficically and accurately tell you what he thinks he tried to tell you, he should be kicked in the dick.

The problem with returning them would be that he's likely to either eat them himself or sell them to another unsuspecting victim...

Guess so, well I'm not going to be a jerk. Might as well just give him his 30, tell him what's up and not ever associate with him again.

I'm inclined to be a complete ass to those who attempt to sell random mushrooms to people, or who try to pass them onto another person to 'test' for them. I'm not likely to change in this regard, and it is one of the few behaviors which might motivate me to violence.

I like your cool headed view though. It is respectable.

In all fairness, if the guys gets a flaming bag of dogshit on his front porche, with a note on the door, he will be less likely to do this sort of thing again, and therefore your are potentially saving future drama from occuring.  Just my two cents.

If you want to scare the guy into not pulling this sort of shit again, you could of course pretend to be terribly sick on Friday and proceed to projectile-vomit fake blood all over him.

Lines like that are the hallmark of people who don't know mushrooms. Gold caps is sort of a common name for Psilocybe cubensis. It's also a name used by people who don't actually know what their mushrooms are.

Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt for a second (though I'm not the least bit convinced that those even might be P. cubensis): perhaps he said 'some B+'s'. B+ is a name given to a particular cultivated lineage of Psilocybe cubensis which was once quite popular with cultivators.

Guess I can just stick to the occasional THC since my hard efforts to obtain shrooms always seem to fail somehow.

The mushrooms are out there, and you can find them. You will find it is going to go better though if you learn a bit about them, and try to take advice from those who know them well.

But you have an entire internet. It's not first-hand guidance, but it's quite a heck of a start.

Maybe he's got the line on some marinol too. Maybe he's a stickler for concise speech and didn't want to say 'weed, joints, bong loads, ganja brownies, hash and fatty, fatty blunts'.

Any recommendations of getting shrooms though? Small town or not, it would make sense that it's lurking around somewhere.

By rembering that information is not unlawful, and remembering that having these discussions are a better idea than committing the crimes, and that all of those are a better idea than committing the crimes and then telling everybody in a search engine indexed, publically viewable forum.

Hey Jesse read up on the shroomery, there are some other forums here about growing if that's what you're interested in.  I would suggest reading for a couple months, hardcore, or up to a couple years, and then do something epic and incognito, safe and fruitful.

A little bit. It would be an admission of intent, though intent alone is not a crime.

It wouldn't be a good idea to name your specific small town though, just in case your local police were reading.

Not all of us have. I used to eat them quite a lot. We probably have several members here who never have and wouldn't be interested to.

This particular forum is focused as much on edible mushrooms, toxic muhsrooms and the taxonomy and identification of muhsrooms in general as it is to psychoactive ones. It is a good thing too, because it gives us the experience and knowledge of a very broad assortment of the myco-community.

Guys, I noticed that Deftone asked about posting illegal things. Be careful. It has recently bit a user from georgia in the butt. Any georgia folks really  need to watch what they post. If you feel like something might get you in trouble, it may be a good idea to just not post it. The GA boys are on edge right now, and many are counting their blessings. I plan to stick around so that i can hunt and post  edibles, but I don't plan on hunting actives any more. The man is watching. No one needs that shit in their life.

To lighten the mood a bit, we always have amanita muscaria, right!? Anyone want to go for a treasure hunt? I need to find that damn paycheck

You do realise you can just edit posts lol? No need to delete!

As for psylocybin mushrooms being illegal. Well yeah they might be, but it's not illegal to talk about them or look at them or take photo's of them. And everyone here knows that it is not really a crime to consume such mushrooms. They existed long before some idiots in suits decided it should be made illegal. And I'm not trying to condone my own usage either. I've never eaten any. It's just common sense.

It's not really wrong. It's most certainly a crime.

Please explain?
It may be "illegal" or "against the law" to POSESS psychoactive mushrooms in which then you may be charged with a CRIME!!
I merely voiced my own opinion on "hunting" and "eating" mushrooms so.........:nofuckyouthough:
....and no I'm not a lawyer!
Are you a cop?
