How critical is a 12/12 lighting schedule?

Let me start by saying Ive had a lot of success growing bulk for several months now with the recommended 12/12 lighting schedule. I recently started growing herb in the same small room, and while its vegging I am doing an 18/6 schedule. Ive tried to block the light from my shrooms with a big tarp but during 6 of my shroom's 12 hour dark cycle its not completely dark.
How much will this affect my yield? I know its probably not down to a perfect science but in your opinion will it barely affect my yield, significantly affect it or dramatically effect it? I don't know how to describe how much light there is, all I can say is its enough to easily see.

Think about it, in nature there is always some sort of light. Either the sun is providing it directly, or indirectly through the moon.
Perfect darkness is not a necessity.
Realistically, I would be worried about your moisture content and/or temperature in the closet. If you're running the sort of bulbs that maryjane loves then these problems should hold a higher spot on your list of concerns.

Temps and moisture are fine. Thanks for the replies. Guess I'm just being paranoid since total darkness is so important for herb.

You can't compare a plant to a fungus, man.

I understand this. Its not possible in my current situation, that's why I asked how much it would affect my yield. Ive got pins all over the place, so pinning (or lack thereof) so far hasn't been affected at all.
