Vacume sealed

Questions of this nature have been asked before, but I don't think this one, so here goes...
If fresh mushrooms were vacuum sealed, would they keep for significant periods of time?
And in the same vein:
Do ziplock bags allow air exchange over long period's of time? (i.e. would a vacuum sealed ziplock eventually allow in some oxygen?)
My theory is that without oxygen, the bacteria that break down the mushrooms could not do so, thus they would keep, but I would appreciate the advice of anyone who has tried this, or heard of it being tried.
Many thanks
P.S please don't reply saying "you should dry them out", or something similar. Even just to be funny because I asked you not too. Seriously. Just say no.

No they wouldn't. Anaerobic bacteria would still be able to consume the mushrooms. This is why food is canned; it's sterilized during the canning process.

Ziplock bags don't even come close to sealing airtight. You could not vacuum seal a ziplock bag; it would lose the vacuum within a few seconds to a few minutes even with the best bags.

If only it were this simple.
I preserve my mushrooms by setting them in front of a fan for about two days. This removes the bulk of the moisture. Next, they go into a completely airtight container with a desiccant (DampRid) for about two weeks. By this time, they literally snap like a cracker when you bend them. Next, I stick them in a real vacuum packing bag and seal them with a vacuum machine, then they go into the freezer. Even after two years of storage this way, they're as potent as the day they were harvested.

Could this method be used to preserve fresh mushrooms for longer than normal (perhaps two or three weeks?)

if there are recipes for mushrooms in hot soup and boiling them for consumption then i wonder if you can cook them and then seal the stew in a vacuumed bag like those frozen dinners? i saw a new gadget on homeshopping that does this. then this raises a coupla questions i've been wondering about:if heat kills the goodstuff in shrooms(fresh to be dried) will they be less potent if cooked? once my foaf had shroom soup, boiled then simmered for 10 min then drunk it with chocolate powder and i hear he tripped of his scone! would they have been more potent if eaten raw?

Yes , heat destroys the pyscoactive compounds, and the "cooking" of shrooms will render them... well, pyscodormant, if you'll allow me the word.

I cannot explain this.

Yes.

Lol... damn right, they taste nasty , I've always mistrusted those who say they like the taste...
BTW, try ground up dry with a glass of orange juice. Even with fresh, it helps with the taste.
