Crazy people at work
    #18986451 - 10/16/13 02:33 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

So let me preface this by saying I work at a headshop in a small town in Minnesota, on the same block as no less than half a dozen bars. I deal with the drug-using (and usually drunk) general public on a regular basis. But this dude who came in about an hour ago took the cake.

I knew something was slightly off when he strolled up to the counter and started explaining the definition of "hip" to me. He was like "Do you know what 'hip' means? Cool, new, more intelligent than the average person... Do you have Rolling Stone magazine? It's a hip publication."

So I informed him that no, unfortunately, we do not carry it. That's when he got mad. He started storming off towards the door and then yelled back: "So you have all this drug crap, but no Rolling Stone. People get HURT using this stuff!" (gesturing to all the glass pipes and whatnot). And I just said "um... okay..." and shrugged.

But then he goes on. "In fact," he says, "People who use this stuff DESERVE to get hurt! They deserve to overdose and DIE!"

That, of course, was not cool with me, so I told the dude to leave. He then said "thank you, goodbye!" all friendly but then stood outside slamming the door as hard as he could for a good 10 or 15 seconds.

:dudewtf:

Anyway, that's only one of the many loonies, I've had, but I was hoping to hear of some other Shroomerites' crazy customer stories.

Nobody said that retail was an easy career path.  I'm sure he will never be back.  He made such an ass of himself I am certain he is either embarrassed or deranged.  Either way you can forget his act and move on with your day.

lol, i wanna get a job at a headshop in town... is this like a common thing for headshops, to have crazies come in to berate people? is it legal to brandish a bat, for such occasions?

I used to work at an incoming call center for budget truck rentals.
We would have this big black lady call in like every 2-3 days.  As soon as you answered her she'd say
"Hey pootie!  I'm just here sitting in my shorty shorts!"  "Eww!  I just pooted in my shorty shorts."
Then I'd have to tell her that I'd have to hang up on her she'd say "No pootie, No! Don't leave me pootie!"
What always got me about the situation is that she sounded like a huge black woman, like I just knew yknow?

I work at a coffee shop in the F/M area and yes, it's just part of this general public. No one that crazy, but not the average nice person.

:lolsy: I wonder what the story is with people like that.

I have a guy call in every once in awhile trying to sell his glass. One time he went off on this long rant telling me all the things he could make into pipes (i.e. Stewie from Family Guy) but I drew the line when he said "I will BLOW YOUR DOG... in glass, from head to toe."

It's not my career path, just something I'm doing in between finishing my 2 year degree and going to complete my 4 year. Also, I figured it might give people a laugh and others might have interesting stories.

IDK, we get minimum wage though. Used to get commission, but not anymore.

I get a lot of tutees with ADHD and aspbergers. It can be frustrating. Especially the Aspbergers. like, dude, idc if you think my backpack is ugly. You're here for tutoring.

yeah, you keep at it sparky. keep trying to prove your hallmark of intellect. (whilst your "tutoring" might be efficient for your earnings, it really bares no real value. his "aspergic" statements only help to define the uselessness of the situation. "learning" to "be learnt" and to "learn about learning" to eventually succeed nothing, one would hope to achieve. very valuable.

but if youre talking about tinychat im not trying to prove shit, I just want to share my best friends with you. cuz books are the only friends i have
