I found a entirely blue mushroom with white gills growing beside a woodpile. It has a sticky blue membrane on the cap that can be peeled off. Unfortunately my camera isn't working but i saw a video a while ago of a guy peeling off the membrane of what looked to be the same mushroom. I can no longer find the video. The mushroom was found today in N.S. Canada. The stem appeared mostly white at first and has a somewhat fibrous coating. It is also hollow. The white coating disappeared and it turned blue after being handled. Please help me identify it or guess what it could be.

Nice to have a picture So far we have narrowed it down to most likely some mushroom
Here is how to post an ID request: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5731447
Spore print would be helpful
Do you mean blue blue or like blue tinted... Possible amanita phalliodies ... Death cap ... Suggest not eating it

Interesting
Stem looks a bit like a Hygrocybe sp. But I am still betting on Stropharia aeruginosa
Let me see if I can get someone else to look at it

i think you're right about it being stropharia because in addition to the unique appearance, it said they tend to grow on rotting wood. it was right beside my wood pile

i think they look an awful lot like liberty caps but i'd like a second opinion....found them on my lawn under a pine tree with isn't typical. Also....is it true you can take spores or mushroom tissue and start cultivating your own?
P.s. i cant figure out how to start a new post
