ID help, thanks!
    #18986040 - 10/16/13 12:56 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat: Base of an oak or maple, might have been dead/dying

Gills: Same color as cap more, or less, yellowish, more or less adnate

Stem: Yellowish, like the cap and gills, getting darker at the base, turning slightly browner/reddish.

Cap: Yellowish, see pics.  Convex.  2 inches across at most, there is a nickel in the picture for perspective.

Spore print color: Rusty.  See pics.
Bruising: none observed after 24 hrs.

Location: Massachusetts, mixed hardwood forest.

sorry the pics are crappy.  Lots of honey mushrooms, oysters and pholiota around the area.  They have a slightly bitter taste.  Nowhere close to what gymnopilus spactabilis tastes like.  My gut said gymnopilus luteus, but I feel like I ought to taste more bitter.  They seemed to smooth, all around, to be pholiota.  Any help would be awesome, I've found BLG's frequently, but never lutes in my area.

It's hard to see any details in your photos, but with a print that color I would agree with Pholiota.

I still rock a blackberry phone and use film cameras, so all the pics I upload are total junk, haha, I'm 100% on it being pholiota, now, it was wishful thinking from the start.  I have a few really productive BLG spots, though, will have to check them tomorrow!!  Thanks for the input!
