    #18985218 - 10/16/13 08:35 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hello everyone, doing my first grow and my jars are colonizing. I was wondering, when i birth them into my terrarium, How far apart should the cakes be from each other? Sorry noob question :/

Leave 1.5-2" between each cake.

This should be plenty of room.

an incubator is for incubating.
a fruiting chamber is for fruiting.

What are you planning to do?
Birth cakes in a closed up box??

Why do you say because you already have perlite and air pump
is your reasoning for not giving the cakes a fruiting chamber?
Wet perlite does very little good in a closed up box, so if anything having perlite already should be a reason to drill holes as per the sgfc design!

When the cakes are ready im planning to put in the damp perlite and the air pump for FAE. Thats what the kit was made for.its a tub inside a tub with water and a heater.

I agree 100%
If you have a TIT and perlite, I'd say that you have 2 SGFCs. Just need to drill some 1/4" holes.
Save the aquarium pump for fish

By drilling holes in all 6 sides of the box.
fill with 4-6 inches of perlite. Elevate the box a couple inches so air can come in from the bottom.
That is called a sgfc.

You must have misunderstood what the kit meant if you thought the incubator was both an incubator and the fruiting chamber..

There is no need for an incubator.

Let your jars colonize at room temperature.

Take one of the tubs, drill 1/4" holes every 2" in a grid pattern on all 6 sides, then fill it with 4-5" of moist perlite.

Raise the chamber so that air can pass up thru the bottom holes and up thru the perlite.

Place the chamber in a room with no running fans.

That is all that needs to be done in a SGFC besides misting/fanning the cakes.

Im doing it in a dorm and id really like it to stay kind of hidden, im not growing illegal mushrooms just my roommate destroys everything. Thats why i went for the TiT so i could just put the lid on the container and it sits in the corner.

If you want stealth(closet grow).
Make a mono tub and do a bulk grow, they do a little better than a SGFC in confined spaces and give bigger harvests too
