I am not exactly sure what I am looking for, i just know that it is something regarding buddhist teachings and the concept of a stone, or being a stone.
any scriptures, quotes, phrases, or wisdom you might send regarding this subject would be most helpful

i thought the idea was to be alone to find my inner self?
or was it to be like a stone in a river... as the stone is unmoving and static, the currents around it chaotic and dynamic - such as one should be in life

Well, they'll stone you when you're trying to be so good They'll stone you just like they said they would They'll stone you when you're tryna go home Then they'll stone you when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned
Well, they'll stone you when you're walkin' along the streets They'll stone you when you're tryna keep your seat They'll stone you when you're walkin' on the floor They'll stone you when you're walkin' to the door
But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned
They'll stone you when you're at the breakfast table They'll stone you when you are young and able They'll stone you when you're tryna make a buck They'll stone you and then they'll say, "Good luck"
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned
Well, they'll stone you and say that it's the end Then they'll stone you and then they'll come back again They'll stone you when you're riding in your car They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar
Yes but I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned, alright
Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone They'll stone you when you are walkin' home They'll stone you and then say they all are brave They'll stone you when you're set down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned

-------------------- Everything is better than it was the last time. I'm good. If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Well, rocks are not very mindful in my opinion, nor do they understand the act of meditation...
Mindfulness is a reasonably simple concept to define and understand. However, entering and remaining in this state of awareness is a completely different matter all together. It requires a fair amount of strength, dignity, and discipline to truly uncover the positive aspects of this art form. Engaging in mindfulness is, in my own opinion, a highly analytical and incredibly difficult task. According to Alan Wilson Watts It is undoubtedly a grave mistake for new students of meditation to attempt to blind their eyes, suppress their thoughts, and plug their ears in order to essentially remove themselves from the world. They reflect the concept of the stone Buddha, all while failing to realize they are not made of stone at all. Stone statues are masters at the art of hiding, of closing their mind, and of removing themselves from all sensations, but this of course in not mindfulness, nor meditation. The act of meditation has absolutely nothing to do with escaping reality, in fact; on the contrary, it has everything to do with the acceptance and awareness of reality. Meditating is merely a tool used to reveal a small sliver of mindfulness, and to achieve a greater connection to what is. So, next time one sees a stone Buddha, they should walk up to it, knock on it’s head and say, “I know what you are doing, I know your game, you’re running away from this world, you’re afraid. You are afraid, because you fail to understand the system of ways. Afraid of change, afraid of acceptance, afraid of form. Life anxiety,”(Watts)

Interesting, though i think the idea of being a stone in a river is more pointing to be a beacon of stability in a chasm of uncertainty, to not things get to you however bad things get, or maybe that true peace is to be calm when everything else around you is not

There once was a man searching for jewels in a river bed. He spent many years searching with no avail. Eventually he became frustrated and gave up. Then he angrily tossed a stone behind his back as he was leaving. The stone landed on a boulder and cracked open revealing a huge ruby. If the man would have stayed patient and diligent he would have found what he had been searching for.
This isn't the exact story, and I don't think its one from the Buddha, but that's the best I could do from memory

"Within us, we carry the world of no-birth and no-death. But we never touch it, because we live only with our notions." -Thich Nhat Hanh instant "Experience always goes beyond ideas"

I suppose if what you get turns out to be what you wanted. Though, what you are really asking for in this thread is winning the lottery... You don't know what you are looking for, so you ask for help, yes? Well as you said because it doesn't matter what you get if you don't know what you want, the people here can post anything and hope that it strikes a chord. Really though, what you seem to be looking for is what you really want, and no one here can really answer that question but you... So are you really asking...
How do I figure out how to figure out what I want?
Or do you just want some koans to pick your brain?
