Why are mushies so dark?
    #18984307 - 10/16/13 12:29 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Why are they so dark as say compared to say LSD/Mescaline? The things i see on shrooms are almost frightening when i close my eyes.. Bugs, skulls, strange faces, weird patterning involving random objects etc shrooms to me almost seem "menacing" it feels as shrooms always grab me and fuck up everything i thought i knew.. very rarely if i eat 3+ grams am i going to be able to comprehend much of anything...

As with mescaline/acid everything just flows and "makes" sense their isnt as much anxiety or "mindfuck".. ive taken large doses of LSD too and experienced ego death and idk it was way more visual than mushrooms but the mind fuck was bareable..

Mushrooms seem to have no recreational purposes as does mescaline/lsd.. They seem to always be about "you" or your "emotions" ive noticed shrooms seem to be all about how your feeling as were LSD you can just make your own headspace.

idk what im trying to say why are mushrooms so crazy!

idk man, I have had dark trips and I have had awesome clairvoyant trips. The dark trips were at peoples houses who at the time pretended to be my friend, but were actually talking shit about me and stealing my things. My awesome DMT like trips have been alone by myself, reflecting on life and how thankful I am, realizing that I am truly blessed.

Yea same here... maybe its were i am in life.. i def aint happy about who i am/what im doing with my life so im sure that has alot to do with it... but idk ive literally had times on shrooms were the ego death was so much i literally felt my heart stop, i could feel my heart just stop beating, if thats not dark than i dont know what is..

im sure its also because ive done mushies the most and set/setting i just always seem to have my most "dark" trips on mushies. never mescaline never LSD... i dont think its possible to have a bad trip on mescaline /sarcasm

It might just be that. My dark trips were in the dark part of my life. I saw some truly disturbing visuals that I still think about to this day. Not in a negative way but in a philosophical kind of way.

I don't remember the amount I took, but it wasn't that much. I have had multiple times that amount and not had any disturbing visuals. All of the disturbing visuals I have ever had were with a group of people that lived in an apartment. It was always there that I had creepy/disturbing visuals and no where else. The creepiest thing I ever saw was a face slowly come out of the darkness and in front of me just inches away. At first the face appeared to be a white circle, but as it came out of the shadows more I was able to make out more distinct facial characteristics. The face was pale white with black circles for eyes and it had long black hair draping straight down, partially covering it's face. At first the hair was completely covering it's face, but then it lifted it's head up and the hair fell back. I looked at it and thought "this is the most disturbing thing I have ever seen" to which the face smirked/grinned and faded back into the darkness. It was around for the entire trip though and would randomly appear when I least expected it, usually when I was under a blanket. That apartment always gave me the vibe that someone had been murdered there.

I see what you mean, they have the potential to turn dark. For me they have hinted at this darkness whenever I fought an impulse. For instance, I was in a busy recreational area with no place to piss without being seen. I held it in for way longer than I should have. Everything slowly but steadily turned from radiating beauty into a monochrome horror type of setting. I got up, pissed and everything was back to beauty. I guess I agree with the set/setting conclusion.

Don't find mushrooms dark
I find them during the day... :-)

Think the duration may have something to do with your feeling?
And dose might be a factor... You might be taking more mushroom than you want

Would suggest working on your set and setting... Purpose for mushroom trips

Ever try tripping outside in nature during the day light hours? Try it if not

Peace

Mushrooms can definitely be recreational if you lower the dose and have the right set/setting.  I always feel that mushies are more earthy and LSD is more heavenly in terms of the headspace if that makes sense.

I know what u mean. I had a really mild mesc. Trip recently and I was contemplating which would be better to add, L or shrooms, and realized L would bring out the light in the trip, and the mushrooms would bring out the dark, because mesc. Seems right in the middle to me, I can't put my finger on it exactly, but mushrooms just seem to have an old wizard of the deep dark woods feeling. Trips aren't dark, but in comparison it's darker, I kind of like that though.

The last trip i had i had this closed eye visual of a pretty asian woman (i like asian girls) and she smiled at me and almost looked straight into me and her mouth flipped open kinda like the predators on alien vs predator, and when it did it was a array of patterning rainbows etc etc i cant even describe it, it really frightened me and made me open my eyes, and i kept seeing bugs bugs bugs etc etc... weird trip it wasnt bad just at times it was heavy and uneasy give or take im not totally content with myself and i took them off a wim and it was a eighth, it was still a fun trip just darker.

and dude about the face that happens to me alot of mushies/salvia on salvia i always see this menacing looking creature that smiles/looks into my soul idk im prob just tripping

and for some reason mushrooms rips up my reality and shatters it more than any hallucinogen ive ever taken dissoactives (yea i know spelled it wrong) included. The OBE on shrooms are so intense and bizarre. but i do admit i love the fungus

I've never tried acid or mesc, but I know what you mean about shrooms being "dark." I've never had a horrifying trip, but its been pretty difficult a lot (hadn't mastered set and setting). All those difficult times I came to the same realizations that shrooms were not good, were not teaching me things, and had some kind of dark, sinister energy to them. After Evaluation of these trips I found that this probably isn't true, but they metaphorically "take no bullshit" and will kick your ass if you don't have the right intent/preparations. So yeah I have felt their dark energy, but I have this feeling that there is definitely something profound within them that I haven't yet learned how to use, and so the journey begins.

I'm sure there are some people they would disagree, saying their LSD trips are darker then shrooms but going with the 'majority' of the net; shrooms do have a different trip to them. But this is really a common misconception with shrooms that their 'dark'.

There's nothing 'dark' about them in itself. They are just different then LSD/Mesc because they don't include the 'light' by default. You have to find that euphoria, light energy yourself... and sometimes your not allowed to have the steering wheel on a trip. Results in alot of people thinking shrooms are 'dark'.

But it does have some truth to it. Fungus sits underground in the most unlivable of conditions. Cactus sits in the blazing sun all day. Obvious the cactus has more rainbows in it.

I can't relate OP, for me mushies have always been nice and pretty and wavy, like luscious hips and legs of wet adolescent girls, just with a bit more fractals

Milder trips feel like a girl's loving embrace as well, nothing really evil about it. Except for a few minutes here and there maybe, like 5-10 minutes out of an 8 hour trip. Totally negligible.

the most i get is movement of static objects "bleeding" trailing with no CEVs

I prefer the auditory aspect of it

I used to have a "gloomy" time on shrooms but now im sprung into moments of gaiety thats similiar to LSD doses I took where it was recreational not very mindful and im just viewing media

maybe my thinking is just weird and maybe the "neuro typical" drug user has a different experience, all in all the drug has Subjective effects

I recently ate a relatively low dose last month on saturday sept 14th.
The day after friday the 13th.
Due to the great occultism associated with friday the 13th, the rituals taking place that day were placing a miasma in the air, my shroom trip was completely steered/tuned into this energy/vibration in the air.
My trip was hell, death, ritualistic, creepy, pain, suffering, torture, pure evil. just about every sick depraved thing humans are capable of doing was the embodiment of my trip, it was out of my control, i was just being guided on a journey through some creepy carnival/freak show/horror movie, what have you.
I was full on level 4 trippin and i did die and accepted it.
I cant even say the trip was bad though, as i feel it has made my love more pure or stronger or more passionate.
The trip in a nutshell was pure evil.
I could type a novel on the trip, it lasted 11 -/+ hours and it showed me so many disturbing different things, time was a figment of the imagination, it didn't exist, at least not in the eternity purgatory/limbo i was in.
My GF tripped with me and her trip was identical to mine, in fact we were reading each others minds at one point, as if our minds merged and became one.
I don't want to go into a full on trip report here, but if i did it would be really, really, really, long.
This was off just 1.7g of my homegrown dried ecuador cubensis.
I am still trying to absorb this all and integrate it over a month later, and i also notice very mild HPPD effects even now.
Also when i smoke weed it kinda takes on the feel of this last trip.
None of my other trips were like this.

Mushrooms= dark alien intelligence and personal insights

LSD=  dark energy with a human-like intelligence with abstract insights

Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

As some already have said, mushrooms are more earthly. The place where LSD might bring you is heaven compared to earth; earthly might be perceived as 'dark'. Not saying mushrooms can't bring you to this place, though.

i think its is all mostly based by person. i have never had a dark or evil trip before. but i think the set/setting has a major effect on it. i have done them all in my house where i am very comfortable. seems to make a difference to me. and once the trip started we wondered around town and had a blast.

LSD and mescaline are both stimulants and psychedelics. Mushrooms are almost a depressant, they kind of make you stoned! LSD and mescaline both act almost like speed, while making you trip. They seem to be more "recreational" than mushrooms, IMO.

Mushrooms definitely have that dark edge. When i'm talking to my friends, i sometimes get creeped out by the weird visual effects, which tend to distort people's faces and make them look sinister - which alters my perception of the people who i know and love.

I sometimes get the 'dread' feeling and also this sense of emptiness and depression.

All of which i didnt experience on Mescaline!

Alas i've had some amazing times on Mushrooms. When it's going well, the empathy and spiritual feelings are second to none (IME). Mushrooms have to be respected, even the most laid back and care free of folk always get taught a lesson if they're not careful.
