Can i knock up my pan cyans in rye berries? Also do self healing injector lids mean that they heal back up and u can actually reuse them?if so how many times? I'm thinking of buying these sterilized jars below as all my pan cyan efforts keep getting contaminated (I don't have a PC so I keep using a pot instead) http://out-grow.com/mushroom-growing-substrates-c-4/4-quart-jars-of-grain-spawn-with-self-healing-injectors-p-22.html

The name is "self healing injector port," I really don't think much more needs to be said. How many times? As long as they last. 5, 10, 15, 20+... who knows.

Yes, , Until you notice the port no longer holds up.
Very Very ImportANT!!! Those lids are cool. It actually comes out cheaper then making your own using the same materials. well, I have the plastic all in one type. It is very important that you use the RED RTV sealant to seal around the Air Port and Injection port. along with Filling in the Injection Port so seeds can't get inside / hide in their. Getting a Camera and will take a picture for you.

QFT
1. Of course you can 2. Depends on how big the SHIP is obviously if you stab something with a needle enough times it's going to deteriorate. 3. Make your own jars those premade jars are and for that price you could buy a used PC off of craigslist.

Wrong any 100% silicone will work. I happen to use clear kitchen stuff. The RTV has additives to a 100% silicone base that make it take heat better but that's way hotter than a PC will ever go to. The kitchen stuff is often "softer" I find it is easier to pierce and thus probably heals better. Of course red RTV is a trusted standard for SHIP and most often used but any RTV 100% silicone will be great as well as any 100% silicone be it door/trim bath/kitchen etc..

I Used these lids the way they came to me and Had 50% Fail rate. .. Since the Improvement I have 100% Success rate.
It's worth the $4 bucks or $7 Bucks for the RTV. good luck man.

It really isn't. Silicone is good up to way, way hotter than a PC will ever go. If you don't have money to spare, just get the clear stuff.

That is ignorant to the chemical properties of silicone.

U guys are awesome but have got me more confused then ever now.... which one should I go with then?
Stool- I really do appreciate u taking a photo and explaining it all to me, that was beyond nice of u!
Obviously I can't open the lids of sterilized jars once I purchase them to do the gluing thing so I do them after my first reuse of them ya? Which port are u gluing completely shut and which isn't? Im assuming its the syringe port I leave open, I see you've glued majorly around it-Do you ever have difficulty sticking ur syringe through the port cause u have to find the exact hole inside or thats not a problem? hope that made sense

No Problem, I lost a lot of grain/spawn because I didn't see a tek like this.

Depends.. Do you have a PC? If so, you should be able to do the Sealing tek and then just PC. remembering to let the sealant cure for 24 hours. Also, If your not sure (which I'm not) how the grains will hold up upon a second PC'ing and Unknown time in jars, You can always grab new ones, or just get some WBS.

You need to leave the micro filter open to allow GE(Gas/Air exchange). The Injection Port is already sealed closed, I just fill mine in (you'll see once you get it) so nothing gets stuck inside and I don't have to dig kernals and grain out of it.

Yeah, sometimes it takes a few seconds, because I use the Sponge soaked in Isoprop tek on tip of needle, but, it really doesn't hinder the job.

I got my jars in today and im still confused about which hole is the injection and which is the gas exchange. I've looked back at ur pics but not 100% sure. Is the blue button on the lid the injection port? Plus I'm still not understanding why u seemed to completely shut one of the lid ports with glue?!?!?!?!??!

yes, blue button is injection port.
I fill in the Injection port because grains and wbs can get into that divet and is easier to fill then to dig shit out once your finished with the grow and cleaning up.
the other thing has a micron filter in it for Gas exchange.

OHHH so when you fill in your injection port with the required glue you can still poke your syringe through it? Is silicone or the other one mentioned self healing substance as well?
