Personally I love this kind of stuff Gives me just the best vibes and sometimes makes me trip x2 as hard just because it's a mixture of nostalgia and upbeat music Nintendocore, electronica, cybergrind, chiptune, electronic Whatever you want to call this genre, I'm in love with it

Everyone's different. But I like calm music if I just wanna mellow out, like some Pink Floyd or The Beatles, maybe Massive Attack But if I really want to trip out I have some different good electronic music playlists... Some Infected Mushroom, a Psychedeic-Ambient playlist, or some trippy dubstep songs I've come across.
Just decide when you're tripping!

I always find that The Doors are great for tripping, especially since Jim's voice is so deep, soothing, and he always sounds so familiar with the psychedelic experience. Morrison is like a shaman to me in combination with Kreiger, Manzarek, and Densmore!
I also love ambient music, especially Boards of Canada. They are very soothing and describe the human experience without sing words, and it's very mystical and comforting.

Personally I always listen to pink floyd.
Some songs will completely fuck with my head while others will leave me so happy I can't explain.
I also enjoy the flaming lips, the beatles and every once in a while edm.

There's a Jazz/Fusion band from the 70s-80's called "Brand X". Their drummer was none other than Phil Collins from Genesis. This band was his musical outlet when Genesis wasn't on tour or recording. If you don't like Phil Collins - don't be put off. In his prime, he was an amazing drummer and percussionist. The music made by Brand X is mind blowing while tripping. Every song is a psychedelic journey, at least to me. Every time I trip or even microdose I make sure there's some Brand X to listen to. The music hits a certain spot and I can't help but grin when I'm getting into it.
Invest 7 minutes of your time - you might love this stuff.
This kind of music is especially good if you're a musician, or you prefer music made by groups of musicians rather than computer generated music.

I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like listening to music while tripping! LOL! Seriously, I'd be the guy in his own personal sensory deprivation chamber (if he had one). Like in one of those experiments at Harvard in the early-'60s. I just don't like the intrusion, the connection to anything that keeps me "here." I want to lose all ties -- or as many as possible. Just burrow into my own head where there's plenty going on.
That said, if I really have to listen to something -- like when doing a psych with annoying auditory effects like AL-LAD -- then I go for something without a real world reference point (to me), like Baroque harpsichord sonatas or Indian Classical music with sitar, tabla, that whole thing. Because that music isn't part of my day-to-day, it doesn't have the effect of keeping me grounded. It'll let me go...

I had two trips recently - one really strong where I had my mp3 player loaded up with all my favorite stuff, but instead I opted for silence. I tried listening but it quickly became a distraction from all the good stuff going on my head and had to shut it off.
I think that if you don't trip much, you're more apt to want silence. Or if you're on an especially strong trip. If you trip more frequently the experience becomes a little bit routine, allowing you to relax and take in music.

If you fancy some metal...
Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, TesseracT, Tool, Guthrie Govan(not metal but I had to include because his music is so damn good while tripping), Scale The Summit, Cloudkicker, and Animals As Leaders are some of my favorite.
If you aren't a fan of screaming vocals while tripping I would suggest avoiding the first 3. These rest (other than Tool) are instrumental, and even if you aren't really into metal I think almost anyone could dig them.
*edit*
Forgot to mention, Cloudkicker's entire discography is free for streaming or download on his bandcamp here! HIGHLY recommend.

Thievery Corporation - very chill
Koan - super spacey
Rebelution - very uplifting
During mellow trips I also like some rap like Tupac, NWA, Tech9, Cypress Hill and Notorious BIG. Something I know a lot of people are not a fan of while tripping, but I guess its just a part of the culture I grew up in.

mostly any trip hop for sure. Portishead, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation just to name a few
I really like to listen to some Gry and just last time i tripped i realized how beatiful Bang Gang is while tripping specifically their "Something's Wrong" album. had a very pleasant time just listening to that in the dark laying in my bed.
also i really like Various. Their music was hard to find due to their name. kept bringing up various artist compilations and such.
Waldeck's "The Night Garden" and "Ballroom Stories" are good albums.
Wax Tailor is great, he's a french DJ that does a lot of Trip Hop/Hip Hop stuff with a few different artists
