bacteria on cap?
    #18982007 - 10/15/13 04:13 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Can't get much of an answer about this, what is it? Seems to happen only to my amazons, they get a slimy black spot while they are growing, is this something to worry about? Bacteria or just from misting? Non of the other cakes, b  and creeper, in a seperate container have this at all, it's also got alot of some white fuzziness on the stem, was planning to eat my mushrooms fresh, but this doesn't look to refreshing.

the black spot

the other side of same mushroom.

Looks like bacteria on the cap for sure. Misting the mushroom too much will cause this to happen. Try to go more for the cake if possible.

thanks for the response. So does this mean that the rest of the cakes are compromised? like bacteria floating around in the air? and could I let that flush finish, than snip the bacteria off, than eat? seems like no one wants to answer that question. got another cake that's super squishy and wet on top, that one must be contamed as well. should these be removed immediately?

I'd remove the mushroom that shows signs of bacteria. Cutting off the bacteria on the mushroom is also ok to do, although I'd recommend making tea with it just in case.

As for the other cake, any weird smells/spots? If there's a cake in question, get us some pictures of it. Words only do so much for IDing Contams, where as pictures can allow us to give it a good look over.
