are these really wide mouth jars?

Ok, just got back from wally world, picked up some 1/2 pints to use for starting some LCs. This is what i got:

Okay, well that's good because these are exactly what I wanted. However, are these really the WIDE MOUTH jars? I always thought wide mouth jars' lids were the exact same size as the body of the jar? But now I'm thinking it's due to the size of the mouth (considering they have wide mouth lids and regular mouth lids).
Just a silly realization on my part I suppose... but now I'm wondering why every time people talk about the PF tek (which I have never done, and probably don't plan to anytime soon), people suggest the 1/2 pint wide mouthed jars? How in the hell do you slide a PF Cake out of a jar that is shaped like THOSE ^? The regular mouthed 1/2 pint jars are the ones that have the mouth the same size as the body... shouldn't those be the recommended jars?
AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?!

You don't....they make 3 different style 1/2 pint jars.
You want the short fat ones that have no shoulders for cakes.

Like the one on the right.

Everyone always says "Wide Mouthed Jars", but the ones that I get that have no shoulders aren't labeled as such. They're plain old half pint Kerrs. The wide mouth labeled ones are what you ended up with, which don't do so hot for PF Tek. When in doubt, open the pack and look.

You are getting the wrong jars also. There are two without shoulders, regular w/regular sized lids and short w/wide mouth lids and they are labeled wide mouth.

The right ones usually come in a 12 pack, not 4 or 6. You got the elite or platinum type that has a slight shoulder. The right jars will be Ball or Kerr and the product number on the case should say 500 or 0500 somewhere. 6000 is regular mouth and I think you got the 61162.
Maybe I've been buying jars too long

You 3rd link is what the local Wal-Mart and farm supply stores carry under the "Wide Mouth" label. Link 1 here is labeled as a standard half pint jar. Those wide mouth labeled ones won't spit out a formed cake without a fight, since the shoulder jams them in.

They tend to colonize slower, or stall out. Ball and Kerr make the same jars so I don't understand why you would think to stay away from one or the other.

I guess my point is that a ball jar labeled as "1/2 pint wide mouth" and a kerr jar labeled "1/2 pint wide mouth" aren't the same shape.
Ball wide mouth means the mouth of the jar isn't necessarily the same size of the jar (see my pics in op), while it seems Kerr's wide mouth jars' measurements purposely make it so the mouth of the jar is the same size as the jar, no matter what type of jar it is.

Kerr only has one type of 8oz. wide-mouth jar. Ball has two, and you got the wrong one. The other Ball 8oz. wide-mouth jars are EXACTLY like the Kerr jars.

See my post above. You got the "elite" version (see where it says "collection elite design series"). There are also the "platinum" type that have shoulders too. You got the wrong type. Kerr and Ball both have shoulderless wide mouth jars, although I admit I haven't seen the regular wide mouth Ball jars sold in stores in a while, they've all been Kerr lately. Perhaps Kerr took over the regular 8oz wide mouth jars and Ball only makes the designer type now. Both brands are owned by the same company.

I bought the jars in the link above at my local walmart. I don't think they are the right ones? Will they really give me that hard of a time that I should get different jars? This is my first attempt at growing mushrooms.
