I'd call that Psathyrella. I wouldn't have any idea which.

Did it have a psathyrella like stipe, or was it rather pliant?

What area are you in?

I suppose it could be Deconica.

Its not leaving much of a print , but you can see it here....

stem was not brittle like psathyrella.........more liberty cap like really........it was found in Sussex , UK...

You can definitely see that pellicle in that shot :laugh:

has it been printing for more than 12 hours?

I suppose I'd have to call it D. inquilina for lack of microscopy. That grass must be deep; I've never seen it grow that tall.

was it savagely attached to the dead grass mat?

In my experience, it has been hard to pull them up without getting the dead grass, and at least once even bits of root with soil attached to it.

That's why I said definitely! :wink:

It takes a lot of different forms, and sometimes it does green-brown striate. The underside of the cap and the top of the stem clinch this one, and the fact OP took the pellicle for seperable (and it may peel a tiny bit before it tears) and found it gelatinous is supportive. Just is anywayz.
