Pics 1-3 are a Panaeolus species, maybe olivaceus?

In the third shot the mushrooms appear to be infected. I'm not sure what they are. 4 & 5 are Protostropharia semiglobata.

Hey Joie. Thanks for your reply. I think i saved them just in time. Another few days and they would'nt have been any good.
We have had a ridiculous amount of heavy rainfall here over the last few days. They had taken quite a battering and were soaked wet through.
I've had a fan on them for the last few hours and there alot better. They actually look grey now there dryer.
I've uploaded some more (close up) pics for you to take a look at. Thanks

I wouldn't call that just in time; they're at least 10% obliterated

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Panaeolus papilionaceus and P. semiovatus can get a bit large like this, but I think of the two P. papilionaceus is likelier because of the dark stem and cap texture. Might yet be more interesting but that's my hunch.

Thanks Joie. Are P. papilionaceus known to contain psilocybin?
It's a shame that they may not be what i was hoping, but i'm happy to hear that they may still be more interesting
Does any one else have any thoughts on them?

Probably not P. papilionaceus without an appendiculate margin and 1000% not P. semiovatus with so much pigment and no veil, could be P. olivaceus, or maybe P. fimicola, or maybe another species in section Laevispora. We're going to need microscopy to have any conclusive names.

Cool thanks for the information. So theres a chance of them being active then.
Microscopy goes way over my head. I would'nt have a clue what i'm doing unfortunately so that pretty much rules that out. Sorry. Plus i don't have the equipment.
Are they safe to "eat and see" as it were? If they are i'll just give them a shot and see if they have any effect. Thanks

They could be something rare and interesting so I would recommend against eating them, but yes, they could be weakly active, are non-toxic and probably hard to digest. If you ask Joust or Wintersbefore they may be nice enough to spend the effort/time to scope this collection if you can send it to them.

If that's all you have they won't be enough to trip off of.

Sure i would'nt mind doing that if you can point me in there direction. If they are some thing rare would be good to find out exactly what they are.
I've got enough Liberty caps to last a while also so i'm not desperate to eat them.
Just did'nt want to waste them.

Dry them out and then joust or wintersbefore about sending samples.
If Joust won't take them, send them to me and Ill make him scope them.

Wait! First make spore prints.

Now dry and stored with a silica gel patch. The spores are jet black and the caps have gone silver now there dry. I'll put a picture on to show tomorrow.

You should store the prints with the specimens and then upload the pictures on Mushroom Observer and label the bag with the specimens with at least the MO observation number so you will never forget what they are and anyone that you send them to can easily see what they are scoping.
