Sorry I couldn't get habitat shots. It was a high traffic area!
This is my first post. I know the pictures aren't the best. I met a guy who said he was a veteran picker and we found them together. So I feel pretty great about these, but I know I should be careful!

Habitat: Found growing on edge of path in wood chip mulchy moist place
Gills: Tan to dark brownish purple
Stem: White sturdy, with blue bruising.
Cap: chocolates to pale yellow to dark purple/black.
Spore print: Waiting
Bruising: Bruised blackish brownish bluish purple?
Location: Seattle coast

Indeed.

You want to rethink this. Those are very different colors.
Your mushroom indeed bruises blue, and in places the blue can be so dark as to look nearly black, but that is it.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Sweet! They are a little small but we made sure to leave a ton of buttons and snipped all with a scissor! Can't wait to check this patch again! We yielded about two huge handfuls. I let him take most of them because he showed me so much.
Thanks Canid!

Also some black/purple from the spores dropping or rubbing . . .

Exactly right, and this should be distinguished from bruising. It's a minor point to learn about spores, but it rules out a very lot of confusion about bruising color.

So amped! Just moved here last year. Missed last year's season. Glad to get such a great start. I'm also a bit color blind, which makes it hard to see brown caps in brown leaves and brown chips...also because of that...blue, purple, and even brown can all blend together for me. So psyched I met a hunting buddy. Again thanks you guys. Love this site. Hope to get better at this and share some nice cyan porn!

Question. Should I follow through with printing them all overnight or is it better to throw them all on a screen and start drying. Or does it not matter?

They will begin to dry anyway if you print them uncovered, so you might as well go for it. Printing things is a good habit to reinforce.
It also never hurts to avoid getting one or two of another species which might have slipped it's way into your collection.

Ah I see. I thought they had to be covered to drop spores...I still have plastic over them loosely...I'll just remove that then.
Thanks for being prompt, Canid.

It very often helps, and is sometimes nessesary, especially with small mushrooms which dry out quickly, but it not always required.
