My cactus and winter

Hi there. I had a few questions and the search results I came up with didn't yield everything I wanted to know... So, sorry if there are several topics already that cover these specific questions.
I'd like an independent ID on this, to be sure I have what was claimed to be. (I believe it to be one of the more popular cacti cultivated on here) And also I was needing info on when to bring it indoors and where to place it.
I'm in the upper Midwest and it's starting to get pretty damn cold at night. Should I bring it in and place it in front of a southern window? Closet all winter? Cold (45-55 degree) basement?
I just don't know which would be best.
Thanks so much and sorry I had to make another thread this.

Trichocereus cuzcoensis The main thing is not to water it over the winter so it doesn't elongate. You can leave it in complete darkness or in a sunny window as long as temps are below 60 it will be dormant.

They usually are... there is a chance that I can be active although you will need to test it yourself.
There are many that have grown from T.peruvianus seeds only to have T.cuzcoensis. It's still a great cactus and has amazing growth and deadly spines which look cool.
Hopefully you didn't pay too much but misidentified cacti are common sold either intentionally or unknowingly.
PS. Some people group T. cuzcoensis as a subspecies of T.peruvianus... T.peruvianus var. cuzcoensis

I mean its possible. Looking at the older growth it could pass for a peruvian due to the black spines rather than bleach white and not very long. The new growth however is undoubtedly cuzcoensis to me due to the insane spines that are thick at the base and narrow to a point and then have white with time/age. This is likely due to the change in environment(more sunlight and more mature).
I can be wrong on the ID so wait for someone else to chime in.

Agreed.
Those longer central spines are still dark because they've only just pushed through since being in stronger light. Trichocereus do grow spines on lower portions in later growing seasons. My older bridgesii are pushing out thick and long central spines on two year old growth.
As for overwintering, I cannot add much. Mine stay in the elements year round.

So, assuming the Id is correct, is that enough for even one dose? I was hoping to get 2 out of it eventually.
(I've never even done cactus though, fyi)
