Well if I were you, because we all know that that FOAF and SWIM bullshit is complete nonsense and so do the feds, so anyway as I was saying if I were YOU I would not reuse the same jars, if they didnt colonize it is likely that they might be contaminated with bacteria. Hopefully YOUR 2 new syringes work a little better

It's really not me... prove it I guess that was the norm when I registered over ten years ago. Thanks for pointing out my idiocy.
No smell or signs of contams on broken up cakes after a month of sitting. Not sure that is what it is. What are some signs of too much or too little water with initial mixing of cake?

Yeah I remember way back they had this site called entheogen.com and literally EVERYBODY would use SWIm lol, I think the feds probably caught on, anyway . . .
I dont do pf tek anymore because it is just as easy to inoculate a quart jar full of grains and make a monotub, but the only way I could tell when the stuf was too wet was after I put it into the jar I would look on the bottom and if it was even a little water on the glass I would take it out and add more verm/rice flour
Too dry is better than too wet because you will rehydrate with the dunk anyway
Oh yeah I dont know if you read the new pf tek methods but now it is recomended to leave it in the jar a week after colonizing then dunk overnight, and then roll in verm before putting it into the chamber

I guess the question is can it be too dry to start colonization?

All of that was around back in the day too. The mid and end game are not the problem here though it is something small in the first quarter that isn't clicking.
I am not reusing the cakes just because they are probably dehydrated to shit. Just hoping somebody would say no you don't have to waste more materials and time have at it.
Thanks for the advice

When I first did the pf tek I oredered spores and the book from the Psilocybe Fanaticus company before he got busted and the orginal method had none of the new tips and tricks that people do today

As long as they haven't been sitting for long enough to lose a lot of the moisture/let contains get in they should be okay I guess, although I'd imagine your risk of contam would be greatly increased though.
Also you can take the verm/brf mixture out of the jars, rehydrate them to field capacity then refill the jars and PC them again, that should work I guess if you're low on funds or something.
But your best bet would be just starting over.

The verm roll wasn't around in 2002 but there was DEC and dunking. Soaked pearlite and air pump/airstone for the terrarium was and still is the right set up. The main difference over ten years I can see is the use of acronyms, shotgun terrariums, verm roll and salt water for soaked pearlite/air stone water. I am sure there is more but I haven't seen it yet. I can imagine the frustrating book based experiments you must of had. The internet making just about all knowledge free to me is IMHO the greatest technological achievement in my lifetime.

Thanks, that is the best advice and I pretty much knew it before posting. Waste not want not I thought plus today I was blazed and feeling a bit lazy. Start over

In the book, the dunk didnt come until AFTER the first flush so the first flush was never really that great . . .
And yeah his original design of the terrarium SUCKS BIG BALLS
