found growing in NWGA from an oak tree...will have more pics in a little bit...didn't want to take more than one, in case I am wrong...haven't ever found a COTW before!!!

NICE! I just got back...got about 2-3 lbs or so...it was right on a trail in the middle of a giant college and their was a cross country meet going on.... so I couldn't really get any pics, just grab and go...don't know if im supposed to be taking mushrooms from a wildlife refuge...? I usually just take pics at this place but I have never found these before and I just couldn't resist ....BTW, I need to go to wally world to get some things, how should I keep these fresh for a few hours??? thanks everybody!!

Right On!!! First chickens these are the conifer loving ones with the white pores? Still great I ate one of those too. I say as long as you plan to eat it and didnt think anyone else was scoping it, its yours! You found it right!? Iv its true and things are meant to be then you were meant to eat that mushroom! Go for it brah! Like Samuel jackson says. Hows it taste motha fucka!??? I think they have the texture of chicken with a hint of lemon. But I bet your going to buffalo chicken it huh?

I accidentally burned mine a bit. It tasted just like the yellow pored one I tried. Either way its one of my favorite edibles!

keep em in a paper bag in the fridge in your crisper. they might sweat a lot though regardless, so be prepared to get new paper bags if they get hella wet, you just need to check on them periodically. Mine kept for over three weeks btw.

awesome! I tried a little bit of one and it was amazing lol...yah I found it on a still living oak.... I read the one in the NE that grow on conifers are a different species and it can cause g.i. problems.... and I used the paper bag and they came out a brighter orange than when I found them lol. thanks guys!! and yeah sketch, its buffalo chicken of the woods chef salad for dinner tonight YESSIR!
