Agaricus campestris or arvensis? Or death caps lol.

Ne Ohio in fresh year old sod. Same area I found Calvatea myathiformis today. Three different locations I got permission to hunt two. Going back to ask again at the spot I didmt get pemission for. This poor cute lady wouldnt open her door for me. I had to shout through the glass by her door while her dog barked nonstop. I understand why women do this when they are alone but its still a bit depressing! 1. I think these are Agaricus arvensis due to the darker colored gills. The babys are pure white and may be death caps. Or is that how the pins are supposed to look?

The ones with the white gills are something close to Leucoagaricus leucothites.

TY Ran-D!!! I had found some of these before. Itd a member of the Parasol family right? Anyway dont have to answer that. Should I cross section them to make sure they arent Amanita, or how would you suggest I go about determining if they are choice edibles or poisonous? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leucoagaricus_leucothites

I should have known the pins were Parasols! I need to make a book of the mushrooms Ive had positively IDed on here and go through it before pisting i found small Agaricus arvensis mushrooms with veils in tact and broke the veil to find pink gills on them. Oh well. This is how you learn right. BTW keeping an eye out for yellow staining on the possible Agaricus arvensis ones

The Leucoagaricus leucothites should have white cream or yellowish spore prints. I will print them.

They lack of a volva is a good way to distinguish from Amanita. Also, the similar Amanitas tend to have a fixed ring while the ring on the Leucoagaricus is usually moveable.

No, not really. 'Parasol's are the Macrolepiota family and Shaggy Parasol's Chlorophyllum. It's just that Leucoagaricus americanus looks very much like a Chlorophyllum or Lepiota species.

Lol you knocked on a random persons house to ask if you could have their mushrooms? Not surprised if they are a bit wary :P As for the Agaricus mushrooms, it's hard to tell from those pics. They look similar to me though.

So different to here. The only places you wouldn't already have access to here are farmland.

Yeah? Here people are sketchy if you ask them anything most times because a lot of the houses have long driveways. They see u look at their property and decide before u even ask that its best to say no. Shit I have permission where most folks cant get it just because im honest and respectible. I ask. They say no. I ask their neighbor they say yes. Then the one who said no sees me doing good things and talking and laughing with their neighbors. Then they see me somewhere and flag me down and tell me about mushrooms in their yard or even sometimes hand me a bag full of unknowns lol. U just hotta prove to them your not scoping their shit out like thieves do. I get most my permissions by word of mouth from other people

Similar thing with one lady who has cyans in her woodchip. She did let me have a look but next time she didn't answer, and she was so incredibly nervous that I will not trouble her again.

Yeah, I've had mixed results with seeking permission from residential homeowners. Maybe moreso than ranch owners.

Do ranch owners usually let you hunt around here? I had the crazy idea that I could find a some cubes in California (I know I'm crazy but I want to look) in one of those nice irrigated pastures but I never asked anyone for permission.

It's hit and miss. It's often been neighbors of people I know.
I've gotten a lot of those looks for asking though. You know; the ones that say 'what is this, a crazy person? Are they going to kill somebody, or molest the livestock..?'
I'll never understand humons.
