Turkey tail nursery cultivation
    #18975841 - 10/14/13 09:42 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Been looking for a decent amount of turkey tail and I've found a single log of dead tree that is absolutely riddled with the stuff. Looks beautiful too!

My plan is to bag it, get it in the car and put it in the garden. I was thinking that as this log is dead and rotting presumably by the turkey tail, that I would need to add more logs to this to keep it going.
Would this work and what logs would be the best to lay next to it in hope that the turkey tail would spread?

Also does anyone have any information about cloning turkey tail. I'd also like to grow it in a controlled environment indoors. I'm a total beginner here but I willing to learn.

Hope you guys can help.

Thank
Steven

Hi there, new to the forum, not to the hobby. Contams may be a problem your first time, but I could see it working if you had a lot of fresh clean turkey tail. You could also take a small clean cutting and put it between two cardboard pieces, wait 3-4 days and then see if white mycelium has grown between the paper product. Then you can bury that in your mulch garden. I grow them in bags, have a purple variety
