General question on HEPA-filters: laminar VS "others"?

First of all: I am new to this forum and plan to build my own Laminar Flow Hood. I have read much about HEPA-filters and radiators, but one point remains unclear:
i.e. when it comes to the type of HEPA-filter. I do not mean classes (H13, H14...), but it appears to me as if there exist several types of filters. I understand that "turbulent flow"-filters are the wrong choice.
But then there seem to exist special "laminar HEPA-filters" (see e.g. http://www.jasun-luftfilter.de/Schwebstofffilter-Grade-H13-H14/Laminar-Flow-HEPA-H13-H14/Laminar-Flow-HEPA-H14:::9_176_199.html). Why is this aspect so much disregarded, or isn't it? When you take the list on http://www.fungifun.org/English/Flowhood for instance: are those filters all laminar HEPA-filters?
I will probably decide for this one: http://www.jasun-luftfilter.de/Schwebstofffilter-Grade-H13-H14/Laminar-Flow-HEPA-H13-H14/Laminar-Flow-HEPA-H14/UMPW78-78mm-Tief/DE-UMPW7814-1824::2947.html
Its size is 457x610x78mm (hight, width, depth), and I wonder, if possibly 305x610x78mm would not be just as feasible (especially since the radiator would not need to be that powerful/expensive in the latter case). Is there anybody with experience who could give his advice on this particular question? The Flow Hood (horizontal type) should be comfortable to work under, but I do not have plenty of space in my room.
Thank you!

From my understanding Laminar flow is simply to minimize tiny air currents from curling and tossing viable particles everywhere (ie: contaming it's surroundings). It's a dispute of theories so it's all arguable and equally justifiable depending on who you talk to. I work with flow hoods for a living and can tell you the smallest micro current of air can lift even chemo dust up to 3 feet in the air without too much effort.

That explains a lot of things. Thanks.

Laminar flow is just a steady, undisturbed stream of air. A laminar flow filter is kind of an oxymoron. You get laminar flow by providing the right air pressure behind the filter depending on the resistance of your filter.
