I think it's a myth, usually when I have a bad time mixing drinks is when I drink beer first, then liquor, but just because when I'm already tipsy I don't give a fuck and I'll chug the whole bottle or some stupid shit.

Nothing wrong with mixing drinks.
If you know your limits, you can do whatever you want.
I normally start with liquor and then move onto beer but not the other way around. Too easy to get way fucked up once you're already buzzed and liquor comes into play

Yeah, the logic behind not "mixing" drinks is usually more like if you start drinking liquor after you've already been drinking beer it's really easy to over do it without even realizing. Obviously if you find that mixing certain drinks gives you shitty hangovers or a bad drunk or whatever then it doesn't really matter what people say. Just avoid doing it.

That also makes no sense. It's not just ethanol; different drinks are made differently. To think otherwise is foolish.

Mix whatever the hell you want. You'll only throw up if get too drunk. Mixing things has nothing to do with quantity.
This.
It has everything to do with how you pace yourself and handle your alcohol.

90% of the people here are tards.
Mixing booze doesnt really effect hangovers.
Certain boozes cause hangovers to be worst. This is proven and there is studies into this.

Well all the answers are different because you're asking about something objective when the only input can be based on subjective experience. Science tells us that ethanol is ethanol, but other factors like dissolved solids/impurities affect the hangover. I've always heard "beer before liquor, never been sicker" and "liquor before beer, you're in the clear" and what a few posters said about overdoing it if you start with beer and move to liquor makes the most sense.

The phrase is "beer before liquor, never been sicker; liquor before beer, you're in the clear."
This is because liquor is stronger than beer and alcohol reduces your ability to tell how strong a drink is. So, if you get tipsy from drinking a couple of beers and then break into the liquor, you won't be able to tell as accurately how drunk you're getting, and your drinks will be stronger. But if you drink the liquor first, and then beer afterwards, you still won't be able to gauge your own drunkenness very well, but at least it will take way more drinks for you to get blackout-sick drunk.

Ethanol is ethanol, but different kinds of alcohol have other stuff(methanol, fusels, etc) in them. Beer and wine have a little of everything which contributes to the hangover. Different liquors have different amounts of the other stuff depending on how they are distilled and how they are mixed. If you can get almost all ethanol, like 95% vodka, there is less of a chance to get a hangover. If you drink rum you have a better chance at getting a hangover because there are more "heads" and "tails."
I think a lot of the hangover depends on how much you consume and how hydrated you are. I don't believe that mixing alcohols causes hangovers. Another alcohol myth I don't believe is when people say "Tequila makes me crazy." If I drink 5oz of tequila I get just as drunk as if I drank 5oz of bourbon.

Some alcohols go down a lot easier, and something like Tequilla people end up getting completely shit faced pretty quickly which usually is why they get "crazy". People say the same thing about Jager cause how easy that shit goes down too.

I've done extensive field research and have come to that conclusion based upon my findings. Doesn't stop me from catching a mild buzz from time to time, but after enough years of drinking, the negative effects generally outweigh the positive for me

Fun fact- Scotch will give you the worst hangovers of any common spirit. Most are only twice distilled, largely unfiltered, and the malting process of how it's made creates a ton of unique by-products/fusels. And then there's the fact that it's barrel-aged, which- Any barrel-aged spirit or drink (wine and some beers) will be harder on your body because the wood does infuse with the liquid somewhat.

Disclaimer: My favorite spirits are rye, bourbon, and scotch so I'm in no way bashing them
