Contamination?
    #18974988 - 10/14/13 01:36 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hi all,

Ive noticed in one of the jars this slightly grey growth, and surrounding area seems unlike the cubensis mycellium, I didn't notice any strange smells, the other three jars have no such grey growth but all 4 jars smell the same.

What should I do? My previous 4 jars had no contamination at all.

Here are photos:

Cheers!

Not sure what your definition of 'grey' is and can't see clearly in the picture, but have you grown cubensis before?  Any jars you can compare it to? Is this the only jar?

If not you can check if its pin mold by holding it against a white background with light at the front to see if there's any mold pins.

Also, i hope you didnt open it in open air..if so then there's a good chance its going to get infected with molds.

This is my first grow, but I have other 4 jars which are just white, no grey.

Ill take a better photo later tonight.

I did open in open air, hoping, other jars were closed with tin foil though.

I dont mind if this one is infected as long as others are ok.

PS the grey fluff is basically in the middle, slightly to the top right. Grey fuzz.

A friend gave me a print of Ecuador Cubensis he was growing back in 2008, so it lasted since then, decided to try growing some for fun.

I think they imported it...

Why?

Hmm..did you try put it against a white sheet of paper with light from where your looking?

Lol ok i thought you might have got confused with subaeroginosa or azurescans

Btw if you get the chance try growing the aussie ones they're far more easier and are more portent

good luck!

That's contaminated for sure. Do you have a filter on those, not just foil? If not you need a dry vermiculite layer on top.

The foil and the jar makes a gap big enough for airborne contaminant spores to get through, by placing a filter there (pretty hard to make it fit) or by placing dry vermiculite, any spores that get through the foil will land on the filter or vermiculite and be hindered from germinating.
