Could I get a little feedback on my current grow?

Hi all! I'm excited because I believe i'm on track for successfully growing nice batches of mushrooms.
Most of my questions/concerns come from how these are coming along. I birthed 3 jars/tub and cased w/1/2" 50/50 coco/verm last week Sunday and then uncovered and placed these in fruiting conditions Friday.

Unfortunately I was not able to be home Friday night through Sunday evening, so the tubs went unattended about 2 days without misting/fae. How critical is it that I wasn't there in the beginning and will it likely be fine now that i'm back and caring for them? (I'm following "hyphae's pinning strategy"
Second, did I wait to long before removing the saran wrap from the casing an placing in fruiting conditions? Do these look healthy so far or are there problems or things that could be improved upon.
--------------
What i'm currently doing is inoculating rye jars with MS prints I made a few months ago. I have about 30 jars in various stages of colonization now and will to try and inoculate another 30-40 next weekend.
Once fully colonized, I birth 3 jars to a tub (pics) and then case on top w/ 1/2" 50/50 coco/verm. I let sit a few days then place in a perlite/ shotgun fruiting chamber.
I intend to start cloning strains once I get some fruiting bodies to work with again.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I might improve upon these methods, are mono-tubs far easier and higher yielding that the system I currently have going?
Thank you all so much!

well if your gonna case then case with verm only.. now you have uncolonized coir on the top layer. you have to colonize that if you want a better yield... you want your substrate (coir) to be full of nutrients but you want your casing layer just to hold in moisture and create the proper microenvironment for mushrooms. you can case with coir but i'm sure it would be more prone to overlay.
it looks dry yes but i think your only choice would be to fruit since you already introduced fae....in other words u didnt wait to long. u didnt wait long enough.
suggestion: case with only verm next time or spawn to bulk coir. and yes monotubs are easier if not the same difficulty to maintain.

I keep seeing thew view count on OP thread go up, but no one responding. I began cultivation at a time when this particular method was actually pretty popular, before people used coir as bulk substrate, and layering was more popular than mixing things up ... so I will attempt to give my two cents here...hope it helps:
Not that what you are doing won't work. But there are more popular methods. Cocoir is no longer considered a casing material, but rather a bulk substrate.
With the method you have chosen, you seem to be on track. Keep in mind, with any casing, you want myc to be poking out like tiny threads, evenly, all over about 80% of the tray-before it is ready to fruit.
A typical modern coir recipe is : A brick of coir, two quarts verm, handful of buffering agent (crushed limestone or gypsum)
This mixture is usually pastuerized and allowed to cool, then spawn is mixed in, not layered, not cased...but all mixed up. This mixture is covered and allowed to completely colonize ( usually turns pretty white like your jars did), then fruited. You can do this in a monotub, or in trays like you are currently doing , utilizing perlite to humidify a fc.
Been a long time since I have done or seen an old coir casing tek done, can't wait to see the results. GOOD LUCK

Interesting, thanks for the feedback, i didn't even realise this method was outdated. from the pinning strategy postQuote:
as soon as I see any mycelium poking through in a number of spots around the container I patch and place directly into the fruiting chamber
I was wondering about that since i've read that you should wait until it's mostly colonized, granted it's an old post. I guess I was just really worried about overlay.
I think I'll mix in the next batch with the recipe you gave gretchenmeister. And I'll post pics of success/failure as it comes!
Thanks :]

So here's a couple pictures i took today of what's happening. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out Any thoughts on how it looks, are they healthy looking, does anything look like it could be improved? Not a lot of info to work off of i know so not expecting much... just thought I'd share! Edit: the links b/c these pics are so damn big. Anyone know how to make them smaller from imgur?? http://i.imgur.com/rx4AA9e.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aXBUW6P.jpg

Looks good but you might want to up your FAE. Seeing some skinny fruits and fuzzy feet in there.

High FAE gives thick fruits, right? Just to confirm for my own purposes...

Sure does, also helps with cap development, encourages pinning, plus most contams do not do well in a high FAE environment

Thanks a bunch. If you have a second, will you tell me how mine are doing?

lookin good, i use the same shoebox bins you got there in a SGFC with my extra jars!
about the pictures, you should load them up into your shroomery pics and link to them in your thread, that way they will be small and people can click/zoom.
