Outdoor grows only produce 1 flush

Over this summer I've done around 10 different grows outside in my flower pots but in every grow I only get 1 flush and then it just stops producing. So this is how I did it if anyone knows where I messed up please let me know so I had some colonized Rye grain some of which contaminated so I would move some of the potting soil and scoop in a good amount of grain usually just on the inside of the edge of the pot with my plant in the middle and I would flatten the spawn out a bit and cover with maybe a quarter to a half an inch of potting soil over the top and I would water it in the morning and at night before bed every day unless it was a really humid day then I only just the top soil with water and over time they would fruit "some better than others" then I talked to cronicr and he said to water in the morning only so I did as he said and still never a second flush. Please let me know what I did wrong and if anyone knows of a tek that worked well for you please fill me in.

Maybe you shouldn't put them in a pot with a plant? Just saying, competition with the roots and all...
Maybe you should case the grain with some coir, manure, or straw? Instead of potting soil which has likely less of what mushrooms will like.
To retain humidity, try putting a plastic bag over the pot over night or for a few hours or all the time. Experiment with a few pots side by side if you have the opportunity and let us know what works in your local environment

I would get your substrate in the pot and spawn. Then encourage a few weeds to grow by throwing or planting then in top. Most weeds or grass wont hurt anything so try that out. Then once your substrate is fully colonized,(year or two), just stick it in the ground a few months before you think season will start.
Like rusty said, if you cover the top layer to keep moisture in, it will help. Leaves work wonders also.

Fruiting rye alone outdoors will yield poorly. Next time you should be spawning to coir, or even better manure. The cool thing about outdoors is you don't even need to pasteurize your bulk substrate! Just pick up some well leached and aged (dry) manure or coco coir and hydrate it and it's ready to go.
Dig a big hole underneath an area that gets mostly shade but a little sun, either close to the side of a bush or tree. Fill it with your bulk substrate of choice, break up some colonized rye jars and mix in your spawn of choice. Cover with leaves, dirt, or miracle grow moisture control ect... and keep well watered. It should flush several times over after good after rains and proper temperatures.

Hey I meant to add this in all the grows I've done only 1 grow fully colonized the potting soil and pinned from that but in all the other grows they seem to be pinning strait from the colonized grain below the potting soil because when I pic them the usual have a couple rye grains stuck to the bottom of the mushrooms almost like the potting soil is the casing, yet I've never cased any of my grows so I really don't understand much about using a casing layer since all I've done so far are pftek, invitro and this kind of outdoor grows.
