partially colonized jars
    #18971811 - 10/13/13 11:10 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

so I have about 12 jars, out of my batch of 36, that just quit growing. they've been incubating in the half pints for 2 months now, some got to about 80% colonized, some made it to about 50%, and a handful halted at about 25% :frown:. I turned them all lid side down a few weeks back because I read co2 can build up and if you flip them then oxygen will make its way in and kinda jump start them back into life. For some it worked great, however im still left with the 12. They don't seem to be too dry, I still see humidity inbetween the cakes and the jar themselves, and I don't see any water pooling at the bottom.

I recently took my first 6 jars and buried them into a bulk casing technique, and they loooove it, I just picked 30g this morning and its only the start.

So my question is this, can I take the jars that came to a stop, take away all vermiculite that's uncolonized in the jar, and then just lay it out as if it were rye berries or something? put a small substrate layer over top then once they take that over, case it? Thoughts please

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
