Amanita muscaria var Guessowii and the American concept of var Formosa are synonyms.
Anyway, I don't know what region you're in.

Oh, sorry. I found it at the Seattle Zoo on Friday, it's been pretty rainy naturally. And thank you I did not know that because I was ignorant!

Hrm. It would be a pretty good match, from what I can see, but that, and the similar, peach colored var. persicina, but those are eastern varieties.
It has long been said that the only type we have in the northwest is var flavivolvata, but I have a hard time swallowing that.
Then again, I don't know that the distinctions between these aren't more cosmetic than genetic.

The bases look a little interesting. It's a shame I don't have a clear, focused view of them.

Well it was at a Zoo, perhaps the spores came in on a transported animal? They trade exhibits all the time.
And yeah I know, my iphone sucks ass but it's all I can afford right now. I desperately want a new camera, maybe i'll buy myself one for christmas.

Or the tree was imported from the east.
