Possible Liberty Caps
    #18969340 - 10/12/13 06:14 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hello everyone,

Im new to shroomery and i was wondering if you more experienced people could help me out

Whilst walking through a forest with a friend I stumbled upon a rotting tree bark which had huge numbers of lib cap looking mushrooms growing on it

Although we had heard that they weren't accustomed to grow in these areas they naturally caught both our eyes and intrigued us

So i was wondering if you could identify these for me: http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=g29783437f2e7c297999391031b4d1958cd64966a5

For some reason i can't upload pictures to here at the moment so if you have a spare minute could you please look at those pictures and let me know if they are indeed lib caps

Thanks

Unfortunately not libs, looks like a Mycena sp. perhaps.  Compare with Mycena mirata

Impossible liberty caps.

They do not grow on rotting trees/bark in forests.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Do they never grow on tree barks?

What areas would be better to look in?

Is it always just grazing fields?

Thanks
