I think it's Trametes versicolor, but wait for further input.

I'd put money on Meripilus giganteus

[edit: wait; no I wouldn't. M. sumstinei]

The reticulation on that king is radical.  That's awesome, the kings I find usually only have a bit near the apex then begins to fade near the base.  Cool looking porcini!

I also notice how the margin of the pileus is curved up a bit.  It's crazy how much variance there can be in B.edulis or B. Cf edulis  or whatever  haha

Post your own id thread.

--------------------
"Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats."

"The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

Um, okay. Just out of curiosity, why aren't other people posting pics and requests in this thread being asked to make their own id thread?

Mostly because these threads would end up 30% 'don't post id requests in here' posts, in addition to being 30% misposted id requests. You're not being singled out, you just happened to be one of the ones somebody decided to say something about.

If you say so. Just seems like a fine line when people post pics and others ID them, but if you post a pic asking for help people throw the rulebook at you.

I try to be active in this forum but I've been scared away more than once and I can't help but feel like some people get more privilege here than others.

That's exactly how it works. This thread is for posting edibles and cool mushroom finds, and is not for posting ID requests.

So if I posted the picture and said, "I think this is a bolete." Someone would have ID'd it and it would be okay, but because I asked what kind of bolete it was, I crossed the line? Is that correct?

More or less; though if it were apparent that you were indirectly soliciting identifications, it would still violate the spirit of this thread, and might irk people.

Creating a new thread for ID requests is pretty easy. I still suggest making an id request in your own thread and then if it is what you think it is, go ahead and post it here identified.

Or just post a cool mushroom here because it is cool and don't worry about the id just then.

This season is out of control. I haven't seen a season anywhere near this in my area for four years or more. Walking in the woods I'm having trouble not stepping on mushrooms. Mostly Russula xerampelina, Lactarius rubrilacteus, lobsters, chants, admirable boletes, pig's ear and tons of many colored coral. Hoping to take my camera out today while I hunt with some new friends.

I'm finding so many that we've been leaving hunts early because we can only eat so many. :scarybeat:

Can't wait for Hedgehogs, one of my favorites. There was talk about frying chants like french fries, I do this with whole or halved hedgehogs...so freaking good. Mmm...

Nice pictures and good luck everyone!

Have you guys noticed the 2nd flush yet?  I'm hoping the soggies go away and we get a 2nd flush.  There is chatter of this going on with some commercial pickers.

i always seem to find them with hemlock in the west cascades. i don't know about elevations currently, but 3 weeks ago they were at about 4000' so i'd guess lower than that.
its been fairly cold at night recently, has that killed all the high elevation fruitings?
