What is a human's will?
    #18959836 - 10/10/13 02:53 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

It seems to me to be a mixture of thought, action and intuition.
Thoughts/reflection/projection are the nutrients to keep the will alive.
Action is the will minus thought.

I think nothing exists outside of the will.

We each have competing wills of different strengths and specialties, but they all seem to be of the same essence.

Reflection/projection makes our will different than that of other animals, but they too are dependent on the will...Exchanging intuition with instinct.

Thoughts?

I don't know, but you better find it after they die, or the state will be taking it all.

So essentially action is impulse?

I disagree. Did Mr. Anderson become General Manager of his store by acting on impulse or did he contrive to accomplish tasks?

I think of it in terms of interest.
Following a path that you recognize as suitable and steering away from a pattern that you recognize is not going to the direction of interest.

The complexity is one of values across all states of mind and all moods.
The effort seen as will is a binding of all personas within the self to a continuum of values or common interest.

If you want to make a thread that isn't so bad try to post better questions.

I think you've read some Schopenhauer recently and wanted to brag to us.

Really though, what's your logic behind any of your claims?

No Schopenhauer, but if he writes on this type of thought I'd buy a book..Recommedation?
My op was my logic

This post is nonsense because defining words is nonsense I think..But the term "will" plays a somewhat interesting role in the English language.

We have our "will" which some associate with personality/spirituality/desires..And then we have the less abstract version of "will" which is: I will be going to the mall.
It can be classified as both a noun and verb.

I guess my thesis question regarding this post would be something like:  "What does it mean to have a strong/weak will?"
Is it just boiled down to desire?
