Does look a bit like cobweb, but we should know if it is cobweb or weak mycelium sooner than a week.

Update: so it turn sout my tray did get a contam but not cobweb, it was starting to pick up green mold that was bearly starting to want to spread. I noticed there was a tear in the aluminum wrap so my mess up in not covering it up properly. FAIL! Oh well...
I did how ever break it appart and saved some good myc so the experiment didnt go in vein.

Hows it look to you guys?

You failed your first exam.  Why are there fans blowing on your cakes?  Why did you break up a contaminated substrate and then put it in a jar?

For a returning mycology student, you don't seem to have studied all that much.

The fans arent running, i just simply placed it there for no reason. Im thinking of attaching them either to the side or top once i see pins and or if not enough air exchange is provided allready. Even at that ,the fans are fairly weak.
The contam of the tray was at the top on the 1/2" verm barrier, it never really penetrated the actual substrate. So  I cut off a good portion around the "bad part" and kept some of the substrate to use w/ MGMC as a casing. <--- any tricks, tips, hints on that?

    ...and im drunk....

Is it the fact that im "using" fans ?or the shotgun chamber?

Ive read and watched that before, thanks for the advice.
On the other hand im curious about this jar. Theres this little speck where it wont colonize and the myc jus kinda fluffs around it. Any advanced student might know whats up with this?

Don't flip a jar just to take a picture. It disturbs the dry verm layer which is your filter. Bad idea

I think by student this person means to say that they are currently in the process of learning.... That may clear up some of the surprising actions and complete disregard for any standardized tek.

bacterial contams rarely show color... they have an odor. all i can say is toss that jar if it doesnt grow. stick to the teks..

i thought metabolites are the only color you would see if you had bacteria... my bad. used old info. but let me just correct it..... you dont always need to see a color to have a contam.

Exactly! Jus getting back to it, experimenting, having fun. Heres a little update, got the cakes pinning and casing going on. Feedback appreciated. Im using MGMC for the casing.

I hope those cakes are not sitting directly on the perlite.
