Returning mycology student

Greetings fellow shroomers, Im giving the cultivation another go & decided to post a little post for some advice on a little experiment ive started. ive grown before several times successfully via the brf cakes, but i think im ready to try new methods that can yield more fruits. Currently i have 10 brf jars that are almost fully colonized and ready for a dunkin' and transfer to a fruiting chamber.
What im really here for is some feedback and opinions on the little experimental tray i made. Im using a small aluminum tray in which i mixed some brf/verm and some wood chips to use as a substrate. I wanna say the ratio is roughly about 75% wood chips and 25% mixture of verm/brf. Now the wood chips are also a mixture of hickory and mesquite. I soaked the chips, drained em, boiled em for about 2 hours, drained again, coated them with the mixture of brf/verm, loosely packed it in the tray and proceeded to about another two hours or steam sterilizing. I made two of these trays exactly the same, one i inoculated with Ecuador and the other with Mexican Dutch. (I noticed the MexDutch was not a good syringe, i inoculated jars before and no signs of growth, my friend who also ordered a syringe from the same supplier ,she got a oyster type of mushroom when we had initially ordered cube strains... My conclusion is not to trust that supplier yourself. Ill try and find out the name so you can avoid that as well.) on the other hand the ecuador tray seems to be doing good. I checked it about two, three days ago and i could see mycelium wanting to grow on the top layer of verm i used as a barrier, plus that refreshing mushroom smell.
Now ive read other post here about people doing the same thing or similar to what i did. I understand cubes arent good on wood and if it did colonize it be a slow process. I dont know when the tray would be fully colonized since i cant see through the aluminum, but i know the time is coming since its been there for about a month now. Now im wondering what would be the best option for this tray, im thinking in between fruiting it as a cake that it kinda is or either to break up the cake/chips and use it as a substrate for a casing? I dont know where to go from here, so im open to suggestions on this little experiment. Thanks for lookin!

Dont think I would of flipped them and leave the foil on them. I would of flipped in times past I always had a few contam out and my thoughts are the vacuum from the cake being forced down pulls unwanted air towards the nutrients. Ideally the verm layer catches any contams but there is a lot going on when you smack that cake down like that.
I do leave the foil on loosely just an ole habit. Emphasis I do leave loose so not to hinder Fae. It is just added protection to prevent drifting molds and dust.
I got outside bed of cubes on mostly chips and it is an experiment I most likly not repeat. Might of had 20 or so mushrooms from it. Very few. All extermly large but still the work I put into it.

You should have removed the foil after sterilization.
Why are they flipped? Did they stall?
Fruit the tray as is.

I don't know what this means.
I think you mean spawn them to bulk, which is what I would do with the cakes.
As for the tray, open it and chack it really quick.
No need to have the ability to see thru foil, just open it and look.

I flipped them over for the picture to show the cakes that are fully colonized and those with some uncolonized parts, theyve been upright till now. Im thinking of leaving them like that for a day or two. Reason being, i see water droplets building up on the side and bottom. Majority of jars are humid like that in the bottom so i thought of flipping them so the water could run down and let the rest of uncolonized parts of the cake colonize faster with out all the excess moisture? I noticed the mycelium got "heavier& thicker" in these wet spots and would colonize slowly. So im thinking by flipping it over and ,loosening the lid , removing excess moisture from the jars maybe itll help em colonize faster and show that "rope/thready" mycelium it normally shows? I have the foil jus there for extra protection i guess, i jus never bothered to remove it during the inoculation/sterilizing phases i used it for.. And uhh , not officially a myc student, jus learnin...ya know?
Hacker420, yes i think thats what i meant to say. I get the monotubs, bulk, casing, etc bits mixed up but understand the overall concept of em. So youre suggesting the opposite of what i thought, i like it. Spawn the cakes and fruit the experimental tray...

That is not humidity, that is condensation.
Completely different and unrelated.
Just leave them as they are, without flipping them back, until at least a full week past full colonization.
Then birth dunk and roll.
And yes, spawn the cakes to a pasteurized bulk substrate material, do not just break them up and add a casing layer.
For that you might as well just fruit them as cakes.

I wouldn't say they're unrelated, but they are definitely different.

Does it really look bad? thats jus the verm barrier i put on top of the brf/verm/woodchip mix. It smell slike mushrooms and all so im guessing its good? I did throw the mexdutch one away though, it had a funky smell amd no visible signs of myc

On the left side of the picture, it looks like it could be cube myc, but on the right side it looks like Cobweb, it's grey and has no real orientation.

Might ought to leave them jars alone. Leave the foil on loosly on the trays. They do look fuzzy. Hard to tell from those pics.

I see where youre comin from. And it does look like cobweb, but its not. Im pretty sure, i believe its the lighting i didnt completely unwrap the tray so the foil kinda cast a shade so it doesnt look as white as it is. Nonetheless ill post how it come out in about a weeks worth.

Denial? No sir, Jus being positive, theres a difference i have faith in my cleanliness got 10/10 jars no contams and open air inoculation Only one that failed was the mexdutch, but i blame the syringe/supplier for that
